Bidra med feedbackI had The Trinity (pictured), which is a large bowl of moderately spicy gumbo, with chicken, shrimp and Andouille sausage. The service was friendly, polite, and fast. The spice of the gumbo was a good, happy medium, the quantities of meat were generous, the prices seemed pretty reasonable, the gumbo was served very hot, and kept its heat, which I feel bodes well for return visits in the Fall Winter Spring, in particular, as well as for the freshness of carry out or delivery orders. When I prepare gumbo, I like it a bit thicker, and with plenty of okra in it, as it is one of my favorite seasonings. Just personal preference. I think Mumbo Gumbo 's is a slightly different style of gumbo than I am used to; forgive my ignorance, but I believe theirs is a 'dark roux? ' Definitely didn 't see any chunks of okra, and I don 't think I tasted any, but they do have other menu items, which do specify that they contain it, so I will definitely be back to try one or more of those, and if they are good, will probably bump the rating up to five stars, as cajun food is fun, but seems to be uncommon, in Portland.
Huge, delicious portions. I got the red beans and rice with sausage and shrimp. The shrimp were huge and cooked perfectly! I got the banana pudding for dessert. It had great flavor, but needed more wafers for such a big portion.
I don't know if his name was really Griffin but you made me two wonderful Shrimp and Grits bowls and I went to go take them to recently widowed lady from church. We very much enjoyed our meal. We a great conversation about how rich and flavorful it was. Thank you for making a tender moment just so sweet. P.s. these berries are so pretty.
This is one of a small chain of gumbo food carts. I ordered the gumbo with chicken and scallops, and it was thick, flavorful, and comforting. It included all the essential ingredients of a good gumbo, from okra to a rich dark roux. I will definitely be returning!
I've only been working here for two weeks, but I have to say we serve incredible food. I've tried everything on the menu, and I make sure to enjoy a bowl of gumbo during every shift.
