Mio Sushi - Portland

We just went again on our last trip to Portland because they have something we love that is hard to find sushi pizza! I know it sounds strange but it's very good. Also, they have an excellent happy hour with great prices and selection. The miso soup and bento boxes are always good and I am a huge fan of the teriyaki salmon.

We love the food here, but last time the service was as slow as it could be. We had to wait forever on water refills while trying to eat very spicy food and one of the kid's bento boxes showed up about 20 minutes after the rest of us were done eating. It was not that busy, so I have no idea what the hold up was. I do love the food here though so I know I'll be back regardless of the service.

Healthy food here. I just asked them if their fish is farm raised and the waiter said it is not (although he did not seem positive about this). The salmon tasted great and was seasoned perfectly. I tried the sushi pizza which sounds strange, but was actually quite good (we ate it all). The tempura could have been served hotter because it is soggy otherwise and same with the miso soup. We had way too much food so I wasn't worried about it.

It's consistently best sushi. Don't know where they get their seafood, if its farmed or not.

My friend chose Mio for lunch and we had a fantastic time. My first impression was a clean and bright atmosphere with a modern feel. The prices were reasonable and they even have a happy hour. We both ordered bento boxes which came with miso soup, salad, rice and two or three choices. Perfect if you're not sure what to order. The portions were small but very satisfying. Kid's meals are available. I really can't wait to go back.
