Restaurante Taberna da Maré

Very beautiful traditional Portuguese restaurant near the harbour, good eating good value, friendly staff, clean.

This place really deserves 5 stars due to their service and quality of food. even thought only 2 of 8 servers could speak English with us, they all understood our desires perfectly. the hard fish steak with fried wobble and thunfischsteak with baked tomaten was the “Catch of the Day” and both a wonderful structure and great taste combinations with the sweet. as vegetarian I have made a rule for me that I only eat twice in year fish; on holiday in a suitable restaurant they believe me; it was worth it!

We found this place by coincidence and fell for the charm of the interior that exhaled the rich history of this house. A very friendly young and patient waiter took the time to go through the whole menu and advised us accordingly to our desires. During the rest of our trip it was hard to find another establishment that could live up to these high standards of lovely food and great service.

Fabulous restaurant. Fish soup to die for. Golden bream that needed no accompaniment. All our other choices, mackerel, Portuguese steak, were cooked to perfection and delivered in perfect time. Four hungry and thirsty guys very satisfied and the bill came to €117. Stunning.

Great local restaurant with fabulous food, wine sevice, simply the best in the Algarve!!
