Papa's Pub & Eatery - Port Hawkesbury

This restaurant is a cozy, unpretentious spot with good food and service. The dessert options could be improved, as my haddock dish only came with potatoes and carrots. However, being in a fishing town, I appreciate that the fish was fresh and well-cooked. Overall, a solid dining experience.

Papa’s pub has been a favorite since our stay in port hawkesbury in 2007. whenever we go through, we always make it a point to stop because we enjoyed the consistency and portion of food with reasonable trips. the service. is generally friendly and the food is delivered in time. the last paintings we have visited, but we have noticed some changes from our usual experiences. service is not so welcoming, orders are mixed and eating is more dirty. our last passage through our teller was cleared before we even ate. my daughter still had food in her mouth. oh, and the kitchen looked like she caught fire with the spicy smoke that came through the bar and into the restaurant. I think the experience varies depending on the shift staff. we will take a break to explore other options.

My company has a bi weekly company lunch to both support our local economy and for team building purposes. We made a reservation at Papa's Pub and upon arriving for our reservation were told by someone who didn't take the reservation that they didn't take...reservations..........but then another waitress came over and said she knew about the reservation and allowed us in. We ended up being one person over the number we reserved for and asked if we could rearrange tables and the waitress was seemingly annoyed at the request and belligerent to one of our co-owners. There was maybe 3 other groups in the restaurant and maybe a couple dozen tables, so we thought it was a reasonable request considering how many empty tables there were and we were the only group in the back section, so we would not have been in the way. For lack of other accommodations we stayed, but will have our bi weekly lunch elsewhere from now on.

Good food, reasonably priced and good service. They seem to be taking great care during COVID which is reassuring.

Waitress would cough without covering. She was wearing a mask, but still. Everytime she said something it ended with right? . Very annoying.
