Bidra med feedbackOur dim sum lunch at ‘Kam Ding’ was held to honour Mom — son and daughter’s treat for Mother’s Day — and they did well. The restaurant chosen for the event, was the son’s choice, and because we knew it was a familiar and favourite spot of his, we (Mom, daughter, and I) pretty much let him do most of the ordering. He scored well on selecting many of Mom’s favourite dishes — we chimed in a little with some of the other choices made. <br/ <br/ Service was prompt and timely, and always friendly, fun, and nicely personal. From our dining experience, I was most impressed with how well the servers knew ‘what’ they were doing, and ‘how’ to do it. <br/ <br/ What was ordered: <br/ <br/ From the carts: chive dumplings w/shrimp —deep fried bean curd wrapped tofu — deep fried sesame balls — deep fried meat dumplings — spring rolls — daikon cake — steamed shiu mai — beef balls — scallop dumplings — shrimp dumplings — mango pudding.<br/ <br/ From kitchen directly: bok choy — deep fried squid w/pepper salt.<br/ <br/ Dishes looked quite familiar, and typical, but preparations provided a few interesting and different textures, flavours, and tastes. The simply steamed dumplings (scallop, shrimp), were “melt in your mouth” good, with light, rice wraps, fresh, not overcooked ingredients yum!. The chive dumplings, though pan fried, much the same wraps light, nice texture, ingredients very tasty. Meat dumplings, spring rolls, and bean curd wraps, though tasty, were rather greasy. Much liked the sesame balls — large, and full of flavour. And the daikon cake was fine. The bok choy, and squid preparations were as ‘perfect’ I as could ever wish when ordering — rather simply prepared, with no overwhelming sauces, neither overcooked, tender, flavourful, and tasty a big hit at our table!<br/ <br/ Thanks to son, daughter, and ‘Kam Ding’, Mom’s ‘Mother’s Day’ dim sum lunch dining experience was a big success!
Went to kam today for lunch as I hadn't been there in 10 years. It's was as good as I remember. It's one of the last ala carte service left. Sat down food was there 20 sec later. Most dishes are $4 and bill was $50 for 2 big guys. I'll def go again
We had late lunch for dim sum here after trying some other places where no more dim sum serving after 2:30pm (even though they closed at 3pm). The decoration was a bit old but the waitresses were very nice. The food was good with traditional tastes. Prices were reasonable.
Ate here after the span of half a decade of not coming here, used to be my favorite place for dimsum because my roomate was living nearby here, and always ate here, due going to richmond will be a super long drive, the quality and taste of the food is still up to very satisfying dim sum experience, everything hits the spot of crave of a regular dim sum crave. not only that they are still using the old cart system :DD which i haven't seen in a while.
Went here on a busy Monday Labour Day for lunch. There was a line up when we got there but it didn`t take that long till we got seated for 3 people. The restaurant is small and hidden but seems like a popular place for dim sum. I like that the dim sum is served from a cart so you know what it looks like especially if you are new to dim sum. I think the staff is quite friendly, polite and attentive compared to other Chinese restaurants I`ve been to. Just tell them the specific dimsum you`re looking for and they`ll make you one right away from the kitchen. Service is nice and quick. The price for the quality of dim sum is affordable and worth it. <br/ <br/ <br/ We ordered the basic usual stuff like siomai, sticky rice, steamed rice with scallop, shrimp rolls , chicken feet, and an order of calamari. I like the big sizes of the siomai and it tasted pretty fresh and tender. I also liked the steamed rice roll with scallop because they didn`t cheap out on the sauce with the generous amount of scallops in them! The sticky rice and fried calamari was a bit below average .<br/ <br/ I recommend this place for cheap eats that isn`t too far away. I still need to try more of their items :
