A&W Restaurant - Port Alberni

I have no complaints. I have never had an A&W burger before, but we needed something to eat on the drive from Nanaimo to Tofino.

I visited this restaurant recently and found it odd that they only offer medium-sized drinks. The service was fast.

No A&W's in my part of the world. Have always loved the root beer (tastes the same as when i was a kid). The hamburgers were definitely above average for a fast food joint.Also ordered onion rings. Those onion were possibly the best Ive had in decades. If you like onion rings, give them a try.

The A&W crew at this branch is top notch. Not sure if it was the late lunch time but the place was busy (an older clientele). Service seemed it was going to be slow at first as the cashier seemed distracted but our order was taken and food was available within a minute, all fresh and hot. The cashier had drive-through orders that were backed up and had to take some out.Burgers again were very good. Fries were actually excellent, for A&W. Crispy on the outside and not soggy on the inside as one often finds with most A&W fries. Root beer is always refreshing.Convenient for stopping over on the way to the coast (right side of the highway) if that's where you are headed, a few lights to help you in and out if going the other way.

OK , so I have seen the commercials and am intrigued by the no hormones in their product and my 'high-standards' kids have been telling me that A&W is the best fast-food going. So before hitting the beaches in Tofino, we stopped in at the Port Alberni location just along the main drag. It was close to a choice of gas stations and some other conveniences, so we could kill a few errands during our stop as well. We were visiting just as the breakfast crowd was clearing out and it was clearly a very popular destination for locals. Lunch was great. Tables were clean and staff were very pleasant. This will not be my last visit to A&W when only a fast food stop will do.
