VOLVERIAMOS.

Best food. Best flavor. Best service. Thank goodness. A must for Portuguese taste
This small ice cream was recommended by our guide for traditional Azores food and we are happy to have heard. This is very a place, but if you dare to go as a tourist and try your Portuguese, you will be rewarded when it comes to food (meat and fish only not suitable for vegetarians). It is a tiled box room without window and a TV in the corner, with diners of local workers on their lunch break, sharing a meal to families. You have only 5 or 6 items on the menu every day that for the locals they only wrote their preference and for us the hand she wrote on a piece of paper, so do not expect a nicely translated menu. We chose two dishes, only vaguely certain what we ordered. We ended up with a delicious pork steak and chips with an egg on the top (which we come to learn is classic to serve with all kinds of steaks) and Pasteis de Bacalhau (salt codcake) with rice and salad. Both were delicious and served with a beautiful fresh bread basket, some of the best meals we have eaten throughout our trip. And at the absolute bargain price of 6.50 euros per meal... we felt like a real treat!
