The Southway - Plymouth

Went here for a meal with my mum. They follow all the usual Social Distancing methods. All the staff were really friendly and attentive. It all added to the wonderful atmosphere created by the decor which has been done to a very high standard. The lighting adds a wonderful touch and I imagine is spectacular at night. We had a menu full of delicious food to choose from. In fact it took us while to decide what we wanted because it all looked so good. Mum opted for the Ribeye Steak and I chose the mixed grill and added some peppercorn sauce. My meal had a gammon steak, chicken breast and Ribeye steak. All three pieces were cooked to perfection and didn't need any additional seasoning because it was so well cooked. The chips were perfectly crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The peas were lovely, plump and sweet which is always nice to see. The peppercorn sauce is probably the best i've ever had. Mum's meal was equally as delicious and the presentation and attention to detail was wonderful. For dessert we both had Chocolate Fudge Cake. Wow! the cake was really moist and chocolatey with plenty of icing. The vanilla Icecream alongside it was scrumptious and the crumbled biscuit was an unexpected but nice touch. Incidently, the Lockdown lager we both had was like liquid velvet. All in all, a great dining experience and we WILL be back for definite.

Me and my partner have been to the Southway and not had a pleasant evening. But tonight we thought we would stop at the new refurbished The Lockdown Bar and I can tell you it's a shock. The pub is lovely the outdoor area is surprisingly comfortable. We were welcome by staff who were very friendly and happy to help the indoor seating was very modern and new and can not wait to come back. You would be wrong to miss it can't wait to come up her next week with the kids

Great value for money with delicious, straightforward food and welcoming staff. This hidden gem may be a bit out of the way, but it's worth the trip for the affordable beer and authentic atmosphere.

Always Friendly people Inside and drinks are cheap. Pool tables and a jukebox inside which are handy.

This was not an enjoyable experience. It appears that the owners or management have not put any effort or interest into this place for quite some time. Despite being close to many residents, it is doubtful how many have returned after their first visit. The bar was empty, with only one other customer besides the staff, while it took us the entire time to finish one drink.
