Pilanesberg Centre

Great way to spend a weekend. Everything was clean and the roads are maintained. The braai facilities are great for a Sunday braai.

This little centre provides good food at reasonable prices. Once one gets used to the system of up-front payment it works well. The bonus is the variety of animals one can see at close quarters, we had Rhino,Giraffe, Zebra and Kudo. Luckily no monkeys this time but Bees can be an irritation as we were there in winter but altogether a good rest point. Rest rooms adequate, clean but could use a bit of renovation.

The toasted sandwich was divine and good value for money. I visited a few times over my two days in the reserve. The electronic sighting board didn’t provide much information. The outside map is faded and needs redoing. If you’re allergic to bee stings, be careful. On two occasions sitting outside there were so many bees making it difficult to sit down and enjoy a drink. Other than that, the centre was clean, well stocked and provided a welcome stretch of the legs. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: R 50–100
