If you are visiting the Nervia valley Ca De Na’ is a must see. Tucked away near the center of the little town of Buggio, this little charming restaurant offers friendly service and great homemade food. It is one of the few places that still makes their ravioli according to the traditional recipe from the village. If you fancy rabbit, I highly recommend it. Also, you may want to try “grano,” a local specialty traditionally available in the winter but now served mostly during the summer months made of barley wheat and cooked a bit like risotto sort of, I think. The atmosphere is rustic and relaxing in this agriturismo setting. The owners are friendly and welcoming. They also have locally produced honey which you can sample and buy. Harvested from local bees. Have fun and enjoy this place if you are in the Nervia valley. Make sure to make a reservation.
We went to this restaurant in Buggio on the recommendation of a family member who been a few weeks previously with her kids. Despite only booking on the day (a Saturday) they had plenty of space for the 7 of us (4 adults and three kids). There is a just one menu priced at 30 euros which comprises Antipasti (7 types), 2 pasta dishes, two meat dishes, pudding, wine, water, coffee and digestif. We had: Fresh Ligurian tomatoes Local goats cheese with homemade plum jam Potato cake Courgette pancake Courgette pastry Cracked wheat with leeks Mushrooms in olive oil Spinach ravioli with tomato sauce Farfalle with potato, trompetti and garlic sauce Rabbit with garlic and olives Veal with potatoes Apple tart with hazelnuts Every course was delicious and served at a pleasant pace. The proprietor is very welcoming and friendly. He and his wife (who is in the kitchen) speak good French as well as Italian (something that is common in Liguria and which is a life saver if, like me, your French is a lot better than your Italian). There are toys and games in the garden for children of all ages. The meal was rounded off with the most amazing range of flavoured grappa you have ever seen, all hand made by the owner. The bill for the 7 of us was 140 euros (4 adults at 30, 10 euros for each of the children and no charge for the baby) Ca De Na is well worth a visit if you are near the Nervia valley.
If you like the courtyard animals (gallini, pheasants, geese, quails etc. you can not miss. food: good appetizers, big granpistau. the first good dumplings and ravioli (we ate better but, worse still). the discreet rabbit (dry for ns. goi). Nice cake. Big honey bought before returning home. being a educational farm, they are very good at describing the various animals present, with many interesting and anecdotes. bring your children to us, they will be happy.
