Get the Tomahawk! These guys are putting out straight ??!
An interesting place, but probably not worth more than a visit a year.Food is good, but not by any means exceptional.Staff is very attentive and helpful. Big plus! The location is rather odd and very small. One can say perhaps the appearance of exclusivity or limited space sorta artificially drive up the demands ?The premise was a former restaurant ran by another well known chef in the area. But unfortunately the covid 19 pandemic forced the closure, and the current crew took over opening this new place. It is at an odd corner where the streets cross at 45 degrees instead of perpendicular like most streets in the metro Phoenix area creating a wedge shaped corner building, housing the front part of the indoor dining area.Dining patrons line up outside. There are about 3 5 small sidewalk tables (which allow alcohol free outdoor dining right on the sidewalk) and maybe at most 8 10 small tables inside. The kitchen is tiny and thus is limited to mostly grilled or baked or braised dishes. Pretty much it!Plus, the menu is very limited, including the daily specials can about count on one 's 10 fingers.Don 't expect any sophisticated and/or elaborately prepared desserts either.
Bacanora is on my short list of best restaurant experiences in Phoenix. The bartender prepared excellent cocktails based on the namesake spirit. Each dish was special and unique. The restaurant is small and loud and awkwardly shaped, but everything comes together after the first bite.
What is there to say but, this place is absolute perfection! Delicious food, incredible atmosphere we will go back again and again!
