Bidra med feedbackWe were thrilled to have our first breakfast out since the pandemic and overall enjoyed the experience. The food was just okay - the pancake feast was a large portion with lots of toppings and the eggs were cooked as requested. However, the bacon was cold and slightly undercooked. My husband had the Meat Lovers Omelette and enjoyed it, but found the side of potatoes to be underwhelming. Our friendly waitress gave us plenty of time to decide and was quick with the coffee and juice. Despite the food being average, it was still nice to get out for breakfast.
I was craving breakfast and thought I would try take out at this diner. But boy was it a terrible experience! First , I ordered off door dash for pickup . I’ve never used services like this before because I live in the country and it’s not available to us , so I thought oh how neat! Put my order in for a western sandwich, no option for home fries with it so I chose to upgrade to a salad for 3.99 . Order said it would be ready at 11:30-11:40am so I made sure to get to the diner early in case they had it ready at 11:30. Nope it was ready at 11:15 so by the time I got in there at 11:30 it had already been sitting in the box , then I was told I ordered from their other restaurant which is over in Sherbrooke street by downtown. So now I had to rush over there to pick up my order, which was now around 11:40am and my food had been sitting in the box . I thought okay whatever , my mistake! I go and sit in parking lot to eat what had to be the worst western sandwich I have ever bought! I’m almost positive they use that fake egg stuff to make it because eggs were so gross, very bland, dry, and not fluffy like a regular egg in a western. I thought okay, whatever , I’ll eat some of it and then eat my salad . Open the salad, and I’m shocked again! What kind of garden salad is this ? It had no dressing , and was the poorest presentation for a salad I’ve ever seen. So so disappointed, and will not ever be back! what a waste of my hard earned money for such a disappointment . I’ll stick to the diners I know make homemade breakfast
Say what you will about Peterborough, you definately have options for breakfast. PJs is a solid downtown option, thats reasonably priced, with good service. You can go to other places and you may as well spread the breakfast love around, but really you cant go wrong with PJs. Most breakfast options come with beans and hasbrowns, which is a rare thing, and the menu has a couple optiosn with peameal, the cadillac of bacons. Covid wise, server was masked and there was sanitizer as you entered.
We decided to give the new and improved PJs diner on Sherbrooke Street a try. The new ownership is fantastic as it is now a family-run business. Our meal was served hot, fresh, and quickly, and the portions were large. I included a couple of pictures from our meal. We will definitely be coming back.
The food at this restaurant is consistently excellent. They were able to accommodate our party of 7 quickly. The staff was very friendly and despite it being a busy day, the service was prompt and attentive. The prices were very reasonable. I highly recommend getting the loaded skillet, it was delicious. Not a single complaint from anyone at our table.
