Food was good, but when I checked out after ordering a to go order, the cashier overcharged me and the price I paid for the question and the amount I received along with the stale chips. This will be a game changer for me to go back.
You have to go give Chucho's a try. The food is excellent, priced very well, and the service is extemely friendly and inviting. I love to see a business that takes pride and excited about their own food. 10 out of 10. Highly recommend!!
If there is one thing that Perryton Texas has a lot of, it is authentic Mexican joints. I passed through town recently en route to Kansas, and it was lunch time….as in,”You better get something now or wait a few hours.” So I veered off my route in search of comestibles. I passed a couple until I saw Chucho’s Tacos Beer, which had all the right verbiage for me.Turn the van around and let’s go.While I was busy photographing the exterior, a patron stepped outside, and I queried him if the food was any good. He went into a long litany of reasons why I should step inside, but they already had me. He was right, though. Most of the tables were filled with Latinos on their lunch hours, along withy a few stray Anglos. That’s always a good sign, because the last thing I want is fake Mexican food. Yo hablo comida. So I sauntered up to the bar, a rather unassuming stretch of hardwood with four stools. I would have chosen differently had there not been groups of patrons entering who needed the multi-top tables. Alas, I chose to sit right in front of a 2-foot-tall speaker. The country music was good, but just a few decibels too loud for conversation with the local woman who came along a few minutes later. Anyway, it was delightful to eat local and speak local.I ordered a *burrito vegetales* which the kitchen did just to my specifications, and a tall schooner of Pacifico to wash it all down. And the woman walked me through all the challenges that Perryton has faced since the tornado nearly a year ago.I left satiated as well as inspired that Perryton is bootstrapping its way back. Bravo! And if you find yourself here, be sure to stop at Chucho’s or even any of the other local establishments.Because they could still use a hand in their recovery. Vegetarian options: Mexican food is adaptable. Just ask. They made my burrito to specs!
Me and my little family ate here after youth football games all weekend.
