Bidra med feedbackToday, I went, on my own, to Tuk Tuk in Perpignan for lunch. We are fanatics for Thai food. Tuk Tuk is NOT, thankfully, a pan Asian restaurant, of which France is full, and of the worst kind. Perpignan has many of these, all of which...are uniformly terrible. Tuk Tuk is Thai, period. The staff is very friendly and efficient. The room is spacious and pleasant. Napkins on the tables could be better. The menu is extremely varied. They don 't do the French lunch menu system, i.e, a price fixed menu with 3 courses. So prices are a bit higher than they should be. I would say that a 3 course lunch or dinner with a beer or glass of wine would run about 25 40 euros. Of course, you could have a simple plat du jour for, say, 12 euros, and a carafe of tap water, and nothing else. There are things on a blackboard menu as well, that are not explained in full, but are extremely interesting. I had the server, who I think was the owner, explain each of them to me. For example, the have both duck salad and homok, this last a sort of multi layered fish mousse difficult to prepare and served traditionally in a kind of leaf, though we 've seen all sorts of versions of homok depending on whether the restaurant can get certain of the ingredients and on which region of Thailand the chef comes from. Here, it 's offered in both a fish version and a shellfish version. They also had chiu chow fish on the menu, which is a Chinese dish, so that I found interesting. I can 't wait to take a larger group of friends here to share several dishes. Today, being alone, I had to go simple: little somosas which, I must say, were not the greatest, followed by the standard dish I always judge a Thai restaurant by, namely, green curry chicken, which was loaded with good quality chicken if anything, too much chicken, it should have had more veggies like Thai eggplant, zucchini, and/or mushroom and in a very flavorful sauce accompanied by perfectly cooked rice, included in the price of the dish. The server told me I could have as much rice as I wanted. When I ordered, I asked that it be made Thai spicy, meaning really ramped up with heat, and it most definitely was! When he brought it to me, he said, C 'est comme au pays! , and he was right! That was my lunch. And while the food wasn 't 100% perfect, I 've given the restaurant 5 stars as a vote of confidence. When I return with a larger group and tried more dishes, I 'll write another review, concentrating on the food.
Thanks to TripAdvisor we found this place, after a day of shopping on a cloudy day during our holiday. A very cosy restaurant in a quiet street near the center. All the Thai favorites on the menu, cooked to perfection. Chang-beer makes it complete. We...had a very nice meal and if in the neighboorhood, we would definitely visit again !
Food is good enough but the bad joke of the server killed my night at the end. Not all clients are close friends.
Very nice Thai food totally recommend. We had the papaya salad, pad Thai noodles with shrimp (two big ones) and Duck in tamarind sauce. All very fresh and tasty. The owner (I assume) was very helpful and spoke very good English. I'm thinking this is...perhaps their own business and if we lived here we would definitely make it our regular.
A warm welcome and a really nice server. fine, tasteful and hearty dishes. There's really nothing to say, don't hesitate to go!!
