The Holm House - Penarth

Holm House overlooking Penarth and the Bristol Channel, on a good day you can see Weston super Mare across the sea. Celebrating a 55th Wedding Anniversary with friends was a lovely venue and location for the celebration where the views are lovely. Food was excellent and a lovely pot of tea to finish. Plenty of sitting areas to make self comfortable. Dining room well appointed with sliding glass/wooden doors where you are able to experience the outside without being in the beautiful gardens they have there. It is well worth walking around the gardens or if the weather is good sitting with a drink to experience them. Holm House is a Hotel and has a Spa facility and Wedding Venue. Nearby activities: The excellent Victorian Penarth front and Pier is lovely where you can walk and take in the views of the surrounding beauty of both sides of the Bristol Channel. Food drinks: Food and drink is excellent.

We booked for Sunday lunch in the restaurant for a non guest table for two. First impressions: the decor was a little tired paintwork needing some attention on the walls re; chips and age related degredation) also poorly lacquered tables showing a drip edged finish our nice hot plates stuck to this surface). The salmon starter was beautiful, however the one main beef order was inedibly tough just awful and sinewy poor quality meat, the carving chef would have known this as he was plating) thankfully this dish was deducted from the bill. The cauli cheese had a watery sauce, and my lamb was at best acceptable due to some rather chewy slices. The gravy was good, rich, and tasty, and the green veg were cooked perfectly and accompanied by excellent voluminous yorkies thankyou) however, we received no check back after service. Guys, you 're a prestigious venue, and I know margins are tight in our industry, but please pay attention to the details and hand over plates of happiness, not disappointment!

We went for lunch yesterday, the staff, food and service were amazing also lovely grounds to the rear. Home house is not cheap but also it's not expensive considering the high standards and worth every penny. I would 100% recommend a visit Service: 5 Location: 5

I've been here as a spa guest, a hotel guest and a wedding guest and I can say Holm House ticked all the boxes each time. A beautiful building, with well kept grounds. Gorgeous views and a lovely peaceful atmosphere. However I've been here the service has been second to none with all members of staff being attentive, friendly and welcoming. The spa is wonderful, as we're the treatments we received. The rooms as spacious, clean and modern. The food is always great quality. At my most recent visit I attended a full day wedding. Everything ran very smoothly and it was an absolute fabulous day.
