Mijares Mexican - Pasadena

Good Mexican food (excellent-value lunch specials). In a tiny strip mall, parking may sometimes in tight, but normally are seated immediately. Friendly service and food very tasty.

For many, many years this has been my family's favorite place for Mexican takeout in when visiting Mom in Pasadena. It's very pleasant to eat in, as well, but it's just our habit to sit down at home. They treat us great, and the food is reliably delicious.

The staff at the restaurant was really friendly. The food was average. We ordered the special chicken enchilada with mole, a cheese tamale a la carte, and a kids' burrito that came with rice and beans. The tamale was a bit disappointing at first; for $6.50, we received just a very small tamale on a large plate. About 15 minutes into our meal, the waiter returned with apologies and brought us a second tamale. The restaurant also offers a happy hour menu on weekdays. Overall, we would rate the food 3.5 stars and the service 4 stars.

The service here is incredibly friendly and quick. The food is affordable and tasty, though I can only comment on the vegan version of their Garbage Burrito, which they prepare for me upon request. The atmosphere is enjoyable, despite the restaurant being located in a rather unremarkable corner mall.

A childhood favorite that lives up to my memories! The salsa is fantastic, and the chile verde is superb. If you're looking for hard alcohol, head to the original location. But if you want excellent food and fast service, this is the place to be!
