Went for Happy Hour. Good wine selection. Zack was our waiter and was so helpful and attentive. Great views of the golf course. We ended up staying for dinner. Everything was delicious.
My wife and I made reservations here for our seventh anniversary and were excited to try Bakersfields most prestigious dining establishment on a Saturday evening. I have been thinking about getting a membership here as it is close to our home. The restaurant is now open to the public, so this was a perfect opportunity to give it a try at its new location. We arrived just before our reservation time and rode the elevator to the second floor. We both immediately noticed the creaky noises it made and were quite concerned we would be stuck in the short distance between floors but alas. The door opened to the foyer upstairs. We heard dishes clanking and muted chatter in the dining room down the hall but found the hostess podium to be vacant. After standing around and clearing our throats a few times, the bartender wandered over to us and informed my wife she would get to us in a moment. Another five minutes later, a hostess arrived and escorted us to the dining room and gave us our menus. This was the last time we received any attention from the staff, as 20 minutes later we had not been given waters, drinks, or even a second glance despite other staff coming and going and attending to other folks on the dining room. The menu looked fairly standard; I had planned on getting the steak frites, and my wife had planned on the grilled salmon. We got up and left, and nobody noticed. We went to the Padre instead and got the same dishes we had planned on getting at the Petroleum Club. So much for the country club experience. Guess I won't be getting a membership here after all.
This hidden gem of spot was fun to find and we were super excited to try. The night we went they had a huge event and we couldn't sit in the main dining room and we sat in upstairs bar. Service was good and friendly, food came out really slow possibly due to the festivities happening in the main room. Food wasn't bad but not my favorite, we wanted to try this place again on a night where there isn't a huge event taking place. Oh the festivities were for vincent fong, his political party event. I dont want to judge this place too soon but im going to give it another shot.
Came out to the Petroleum Club for dinner. We had the whole place ourselves. Parking was easy. You climb a small flight of stairs and were greeted quickly and sat in a nice corner table overlooking the golf course. Our waiter Jonathan was wonderful. He checked in on us regularly, gave us some suggestions for food and dessert and let us know about other events that they do. Like build your pasta Thursday, Tuesday night Jazz and the upcoming Mothers Day brunch. We had lovely Zinfandel. The filet mignon and the lamb were delicious. My favorite thing was the butter cake! Ugh soooooo good. The appetizers were ok but overall a very nice dinner. We would like to come back for one of their other events and we checked out the patio area which has a covered area and lights. Will definitely come back in the summer time.
