Bidra med feedbackLoved coming across this place out of sheer luck. The owner is sweet and wonderful to interact with. Having struggled with my French from years of being out of practice, it was a joy to be able to converse in Vietnamese. Took friends who have never experienced Vietnamese food before, and I am so happy that this was their introduction. She is a 1-woman show, and we ordered ALOT. With no pressure to have everything out at once, it was well paced, delicious and was made with the utmost care. We have the Beef mince steamed crepe, shrimp salad rolls, spring rolls, beef pho, honey cake and Vietnamese coffee. The stand out for me were the spring rolls and beef pho. Honey cake wasn’t the best, but it definitely left me with a hit of nostalgia, the last time I experienced that cake, I was a kid. Overall a delicious experience.
Different than what I'm used to but in a good way. Having eaten Vietnamese food in California and Vietnam, the food at Chez Phung had a slightly different flair. It was likely the lemongrass in the beef of the Bo Bun and Banh Cuon. Hadn't had meat seasoned and marinaded in exactly that way for these particular dishes. It was very good though. The rice paper was softer and smoother thank what I've had before as well. Would it give it 4.5 stars if that were an option.
This is a really traditional vietnamese canteen. They have the best bo boun in Paris and the lady who owns the restaurant is also the cook, she is very passionate about food and you can feel this in her food
Buns are good and the welcoming and adventurous manager. I recommend.
