Bidra med feedbackThis place was amazing. The owner Salvador seated us, took our, order cooked and brought it to us. He was the most genuine guy and you could tell he was passionate about his place. The food was amazing and tested just like home. My family is from Mexico and I felt like I was there. The other waiters were so kind and they all treated us like family.
Alright, I 'm a broke student who grew up in Jalisco, as well as the the heart of Mexico, eating mamas and grannies and anties food for 11 years before moving to LA. While the feeling of eating Mexican food in a foreign country changed, it retained most of its characteristic flavors for the poor fellow. I visited this restaurant two years ago, and by accident, again this year. Let me tell you, the food is pretty good. The chicken in the mole, don 't even get me started. Soft yet crispy, and so full of, well flavor that would make you mouth melt, yes, I admit, the chicken was good, but the rest, for what I paid, the lady selling cochinita empanadas for a buck outside of the plasa kicks ass in comparison. Ok, the food is pretty good in terms of flavor, neutral to some extent. The rice and carrots in my mole were no wow factor. They tasted, well, like regular rice and carrots on the blander side of flavors. Your slightly better canned riced and carrots I suppose, but no flavorful kick. Who knows, perhaps im not used to eating the fancy stuff. The garnachas were great, not for the price, but were great. Toasty, and neutral in flavor, to satisfy the tourist tongue, but for the Mexican, for the price, one could do better. No tortillas were given with the mole. Perhaps ill I had to do was ask, but again, not meeting Mexican food standards with no tortillas with the meal. I only say this because the place is supposed to represent a mexican restaurant) perhaps no the one I 've been to before in mexico but you get the idea. Anyways, the food was great, not for the price, but great. Suppose if you have money, and like gourmet looking foods, then this is the place. Not for me tho. Also, the sauce, spoilers, it is not spicy. Customer service, I give them that. The guy who took care of me seemed to be the one in charge. A bearded fellow trying his best to find common grounds with me. Asking where I was from and how his family was from there too. Look, I respect that, hustling to make customer friends, that is what good restaurants do. At least the ones I 've been to. Leave a good impression that is personal. This place, at least from my lens did that. Still, would not pay for that food. You are better off by buying your traditional street empanadas that might make you sick. At least you 'd be eating something truly traditional to the place. Advice, don 't buy the food that is served in your country in another country. Buy their traditional food instead, and from truly local places, not those meant to awee tourists.
I had high hopes for this place and i was wrong! To start the price is soooo exagerated high and the food portions are small, i went here with my husband and child , the restaurant is ok small but clean, we ordered all our food at once ... to start we had soup noooo taste at all.. really bland) then the comes the nachos which were not with the meat we ordered and had to send back, the nachos were not very good the tortilla chips were stale and almost no meat on them, the cheese was not melted all the way through and was cold.... then the tacos... for almost 10 dollars you get 3 single tortilla tacos..... again the waitress again mixed up our order...when it finally came the meat tasted old and flavorless...we did not get the chips everybody got as a courtesy.. at the end the waitress kept opening the door and al the wind would hit my child in the face... at the end we left dissapointed in the food and the service... after spending 50 dollars on bad food we left annoyed and hungry! If you want tacos there are better options....
The amount of food is ok for the price. I like the nachos. This place is recommended if you want to eat something for lunch or dinner with friends or by yourself.
I recently visited this Taqueria and was initially hesitant due to the prices being on the higher side for a Taqueria. However, after seeing a banner outside showcasing the La Catrina Salad, I was intrigued. I decided to go in and inquire about their VISA 25% discount, which they happily honored. I ordered the salad with added chicken, and to my delight, it was exactly as pictured on the banner. The portion was adequate and included all the specified ingredients, including premium items like avocado and cranberries. The salad dressing was also very tasty. While the prices are still a bit high for a Taqueria salad, it was nice to receive exactly what was advertised, especially considering portion sizes are decreasing in Panama. Overall, it was a pleasant surprise, albeit not cheap.
