First review I’ve ever bothered to write because people need to know this! After passing by Meraki half a dozen times and mistaking it for nothing more than a cake and coffee place, we stopped here for a quick dessert apple pie, delicious . That’s when we spied the menu board and were surprised with the choice of food, esp. the mains! So we came back twice! Go here for lunch, you guys, because you will not be disappointed by the tasty comfort food on offer. We had the piri piri chicken, spaghetti meatballs available in pork and beef; we did pork za’atar roast beef heaven , lamb tasty AF , and pulled pork best of all, but not pictured probably because it was being hastily devoured . The portions are perfectly sized, making it possible to try one lol, jk I meant at least one of the impeccable desserts after. We had the mind blowingly delicate profiteroles generously infused with a custard filling and creme brûlée and a couple of very original cakes involving almond, french buttercream, lemon, and blueberry should have paid more attention to the names but was busy wolfing it all down . The bill after all that plus a few iced teas a delicious mint citrus blend was paltry. Now here’s the truly impressive part: all of this the cooking, baking, plating, serving! is single handedly managed by the owner, the talented Anisha Frietas. This is clearly a labour of love; her philosophy is that good food doesn’t have to be expensive at all. Little wonder that she has a loyal repeat client base! I know I’m going to be a regular. There are occasional menu changes, too, and you can keep up with what’s new through social media @merakiartisan . So if you’re in Panjim and looking for lunch, don’t hesitate to make a stop :
Have visited here twice now ! The food is awesome and there is a good choice as well ! Be prepared to wait for your order though as they do take sometime to serve you ! I would still recommend this place to be visited !
We had been walking for some time in the neighbourhood when we spotted the cafe and decided to take a pit stop. The citrus iced teas we ordered were rather refreshing.<br/ <br/ It is evident at a glance that great care was taken to decide the decor and I can easily see myself spending a long time here reading a book or playing one of the several games available.<br/ <br/ My recommendation : Take a leisurely walk along the Almirante road towards the Archbishop's house (atop a small hill Altinho) and end it at the cafe. It will be one of the best things you do staying in Fontainhas.
Meraki is one of those hidden little gems in the by lanes of Goa. If you didn’t know about it, it would be difficult to spot. The 1st time I came here, I was quite sceptical given I hadn’t heard much about it and given it wasn’t even listed on Zomato. But as soon as I entered, all my apprehensions melted away. This is the cutest lil tiny cafe with seating for barely 4 tables. Done in gorgeous hues of turquoise and gold, with slow soft music playing in the background, the ambience is inviting and comfortable. It has a very European cafe feel to it, with cute knock knacks and trinkets on the wall. And I love the “Come in, we’re awesome” sign outside!<br/ <br/ But what really is amazing about this cafe is that it’s run single handedly by 1 lady, Anisha. Meraki, in Greek, means to do something with soul and love to put something of yourself in what you’re doing. And Anisha has taken that meaning to a completely new level. She does everything from taking your order, to cooking the food to serving it and then cleaning up! She’s a one woman army!<br/ <br/ And the food…it’s delicious. Almost everything I’ve had here has been amazing. My favourite is the Pulled Pork Sandwich, which I have had a few times now. The Baked Kingfish is amazing, and so are the Pork Ribs. The quiches in the window are pretty nice too the Bacon and Broccoli, and the Chicken one.<br/ <br/ The only small little thing to take note of, is that since Anisha does everything herself, the serving times are long especially if you go in at peak lunch hours. It’s not a problem with me because I go and spend time reading and listening to music while I wait for my food. But if you’re in a hurry, this is not the place for you.<br/ <br/ I have been here 5 times in the last month, and I don’t intend to stop anytime soon : I love this place!
