Bidra med feedbackWe celebrated dad's 79th birthday and had a great time. Cocktails were balanced and thoughtful. Food was great everyone enjoyed their dish. We had the Ribeye, Bolognese, shrimp and chicken and all received high marks. The pork belly appetizer and brownie desert were both fantastic as well. Highly recommend Cole's Hearth Room!
We are from saint charles, and traveled all the way here just for this food. Our server was knowledgeable and she recommended both my drink and my entree. Please give it a shot if you are within 50+ miles and got a bit to spare
Who would guess you would find a hidden gem off the beaten track. Approx 15 min from quincy. Beautiful old building , great food, pleasant service. Was very busy when we went late Wednesday night so strongly recommend reservation. The cocktails were great and the food menu was amazing. So many great options to pick from. The grilled shrimp cocktail and chicken piccata twist was A+.
What could have easily could have been a 5 star experience, sadly became an embarrassing situation. Per phone call prior to arrival, each table had a 90 minute time limit with reservations taking priority, which is completely understandable. However, our party called ahead and was told that there were plenty of open tables and that a reservation was not needed, as they had plenty of unreserved open tables. We as a party of 4, arrived and were seated at 5:30pm, at a 6 top table. Our appetizers, drinks, and dinners were absolutely phenomenal. And our waitress was wonderful. The problem began when right after one of the dessert plates was delivered, some male staff member came over to our table, and very loudly, informed us that there was a reservation for the table we were sitting at, and that we needed to get up and move our plates to the seating in the lobby. Now, we had only been seated for 60 minutes, and still had the rest of the dessert plates coming. Several table around us were empty, and had been empty since before we arrived. It was honestly embarrassing to have to get up and move mid way thru the meal. Other patrons made comments about us having to move, and how unprofessional it was. If that particular 6top table had a reservation in and hour, why seat it when each party is allowed 90 minutes? Why sit a party of 4 at a 6 top when there are multiple 4 tops open and unreserved? I?ve never been asked to leave a table and go sit in the lobby with my half eaten plate in my hand. The situation could have been handled in so many other ways so we wouldn?t have been made to feel like we were trespassing. Even our waitress apologized and said that she?s never had this happen before.
On a beautiful autumn evening, my wife and I stopped at a quaint restaurant in the small Missouri town of Palmyra. Cole's Hearth, as best as I understand, is a husband and wife endeavor. It is set in a rough cut stone building dating back to the mid 1800s. The open (but cozy style dining room is bound by naked masonry and book ended by two original stone fireplaces. Though a smaller venue by square footage (approximately 15 two to six person tables , the ambiance, customer service, and cuisine are all Five Star. We were greeted by a polite and courteous staff who escorted us directly to our table. Our waiter, also named Cole, a young gentleman well versed in the details of the menu, was able to expertly guide my inquisitive wife through the many nuisances of superbly chosen culinary offerings. The lamb chops, seafood linguine, or beef and chicken ravioli would have been just as well receive as our grilled shrimp, salmon fillet, and lobster tails. All was was done to perfection, served promptly and hot! As a final toast to an unexpectedly excellent evening, we order the Dutch Cobbler ala mode dessert. This proved just as magnificent and memorable as the main course. Throughout it all, our table was well attended, not just by our waiter Cole (who did a wonderful job! but also by other staff members who filled our cups and cleared our plates in perfect rhythm with each subsequent course. Cole's Hearth is truly an exceptional experience, one which any high end metropolitan restaurant would be hard pressed to match.
