Padstow is also known as padstein', as it seems, the prominent rick stein has taken over the city with its various dining facilities and eating facilities. we have decided not to shake for a meal in its expensive seafood restaurant, but decided to take away a relaxed lunch in stein’s fish chips, which also take away a feeding section. they may have to ask the directions to find the place, as its address of south quay' is not particularly helpful, and it is removed from the harbour and the majority of restaurants / caffes, although only a short walk. when we arrived, there was a short waiting queue, but after just a few minutes we wait in a first-class position on a high bank that looked out the window. that was perfect for both of us, as all the others were sitting on community and a little cramped. we ordered haddock chips and plaice chips, both with the mudy heaps. eating came quite fast, casual served in karton taking kartons. the fish was obviously fresh and well boiled, although I was not too sharp on the dough, and the chips were underboiled and too strong.
If they want to add their names to an eating establishment (and mr stein seems to have added its names to most retail establishments of padstow, never forget the restaurants!) then the hunter will expect something about the quotes. fish and chips are served in a cardboard container whether they eat or take away. the special offer when we went yesterday was kabeljau, chips, brot and butter and a cup tee for the kabeljau was one of the smaller ones I met but was pleasant enough. the chips gave the impression that they had been freezing/heating there for a long time and while the more clobsters on the top of the stack were clearly related to a kartoffel that were shoved bits harder overcookster at the bottom of the carton container. the brot came together with two pieces of tasteless cut brot, so they had to eat them as one. Tartar sauce, at most put, comes as extra without fee, but this weighs for a little top of something that was fat and tasteless and more under the standard of what it would get at its average chippy. it has added almost the cost of their special offer. it was half empty when we were there because of the time of the year, but as we sat at the chairs through the window, I am not sure how we were pure or out, if the long packed tables that they had to negotiate were actually occupied to get there. we just went here because of the name and really wished that we had gone somewhere else, because it would probably have been better and eat better.
I have visited this restaurant a few times and it is good, especially their batter. However, it is quite expensive. It is worth a visit, but if you are taking your family, be prepared to spend at least £20. It is likely the most expensive takeaway in the area!
Padstow, also known as 'Padstein' due to celebrity chef Rick Stein's presence, is home to a variety of dining options. Instead of dining at his pricey Seafood Restaurant, we opted for a more casual lunch at Stein's Fish & Chips. Located on South Quay, the restaurant offers take-out and dine-in options. Although slightly off the beaten path from the harbor and other dining spots, it's worth the short walk. Upon arrival, we were quickly seated at a high bench with a view out the window. We ordered Haddock and Plaice with mushy peas as sides, which arrived promptly in cardboard boxes. While the fish was fresh and well-cooked, the batter was not to my liking and the chips were undercooked. Overall, it was a decent meal in a cozy setting.
