Winstead's Restaurants - Overland Park

A dying place worth visiting before it's gone. Foods amazing, service was great, interior was falling apart. Nice to see it still around though.

I can't really say too much about the experience because, other than telling us to sit anywhere and bringing water and menus, that pretty much ended our interaction the restaurant. There were very few customers in the dining room. The only server that we dealt with appeared as if she would rather be anywhere else but there. Actually, the whole atmosphere was depressing. So we left. It might have just been an off day for them or bad timing for us. As far as the quality of the food, I can't say.

An historic local diner that could definitely use a good cleaning. The folks were pleasant enough though the service was very slow. The food was ok, not amazing, smaller portions and nothing too special in taste or quality. If I bought it from a gas station, this is about what I'd expect. If it were cleaner I'd be more forgiving, even the reasonable pricing can't overcome grimy floors and sticky booths/tables.

My sister always has a soda skyscraper when she visits from Texas. She was not disappointed. The service was excellent and friendly.

Absolutely the worst service I have ever had. As a server myself, I have never experienced such blatantly rude treatment from the start WITH NO REASON. Myself and friends were out to tonight and Amber was a horror to be around. From the get, she was extremely put out by simple requests and huffed and puffed in front of us when we asked for the check to be split. I audibly gasped and was horrified by the disrespect. I thought we were on punked. After thinking she might just be having a bad night… My final straw was her going to the back to get me a box and her unruly and unhappy demeanor changed to laughing and gossiping about our table 10 feet away from us with the kitchen staff. Very, very rude and will never coming back to this location. Keep in mind there were only three other tables there and no rush or business to explain her extremely cold and callous behavior… My black friends thought it was racial bias and me being (an out lesbian) made me think it was targeted in someway.
