Zaks Diner - Ottawa

Went here for brunch. Great atmosphere and friendly service. Cool nostalgia vibes. Food is standard diner stuff exactly what you would expect. Great spot to visit.

The hostess guided me towards the bar, as I wanted to try a milkshake, my first milkshake ever. This was also my first time at Zak's. Once I got to the bar the bartender was a mix of busy, engaged with his friends so the hostess mostly helped take my order, make my milkshake while the bartender stepped in at the end, to complete the mixing process. The milkshake tasted amazing which is why I tipped 50%, which I dont think ive ever done before (tasty meals can make a bad day good). I was initially confused by the chaotic nature of the customer service, but these are coworkers who are clearly friends fill in the gaps as their friends are otherwise focused, this is something that might seem to a customer at first like neglect, but it seems to work here. At the end I did get to sample the beer ? that I'll order on my next visit, if all goes well I'll change this from 4 stars to five at that time. *Went back for a late breakfast ? 5 ?

Food was good, we were hungry...dinner looks like it needs a bit of reno. Washrooms were terrible, dirty and...not well kept. Waiter was great, fun and attentive.

My friend and I had brunch on the patio. The food was decent but priced higher than average for a diner. That day, I accidently left a letter on the table when I left the restaurant. Our server kept in lost and found but when I visited the restaurant to retrieve it a few days later, staff told me that the letter wasn't there. I immediately wrote to General Manager Sean, who responded to my email in a timely manner, found and kept the letter for me safely in the office. The next day, I went to retrieve the letter. Thank you, Sean and staff!

Good looking diner with poor quality food. Had a burger with a Greek salad. Frozen patty, probably 4 oz, could have toasted bun to lift the burger. Greek salad mostly lettuce,2 olives and a bit of tomato dressed with what tasted like ranch with feta cheese mixed in. Wife had a BLT and fries. Arrived cold, frozen seasoned fries. Low quality food at EXTREMELY HIGH PRICES. You really would expect some higher quality offerings for$18 for a sub par burger
