Champa Thai Food - Ottawa

After a hectic last week of work before leaving my position, I wanted a pampering meal with my favourite flavours. Champa Thai has been a go-to delivery option for years, and tonight's meal didn't disappoint. We chose the chicken satay, chicken green curry, pad eggplant with pork, and shrimp pad thai. Everything was delivered piping hot, and each dish had it's wonderful distinct authentic flavour. We ordered what we thought was enough for four people, and ended up with leftovers for tomorrow. I'm looking forward to tomorrow!

I ordered food from Champa Thai, a place that I have often ordered from in the past. I'm celiac so usually they'll allow me to substitute their deep fried spring rolls in their combo for a fresh rice paper roll-up . On this occasion, the guy who took my call told me that actually, the deep fried spring rolls are done with rice wrappers as well. I told him that I really didn't think so. He said he'd check with the kitchen, left for a few minutes, then came back and told me that indeed the spring rolls are done in a rice wrap. I should not have believed him but I did. I ordered the food, ate the spring rolls, and started having terrible cramps in my stomach. This was 5 days ago now and I still have terrible cramps, my digestion is seriously disturbed and I've been completely exhausted. Such acute effects of ingesting gluten are typical for a celiac person and go well beyond these. I expect my digestion to be impaired for weeks if not months. It is a very serious thing to misinform customers who have food allergies or food-triggered illness. This restaurant is not to be trusted to provide accurate information about ingredients.

Keep going to this wonderful Thai restaurant. Good value and our favourite Thai food in the city. Never disappointed. Friendly, hard working staff aim to please. Grateful to have this restaurant near downtown.

The food is great, extremely flavourful and well balanced, the service is excellent, the portions are generous, it’s all around my favourite takeout spot in Ottawa. It’s been my birthday dinner of choice for many years and I don’t plan on stopping that any time soon! Without a doubt the best Thai food around!

This is mainly a take out restaurant, which we did not realize. We both chose a combination meal. We enjoyed the spring rolls and I loved the mango salad. The rest of the dishes were not great. I love pad Thai but only ate about a quarter of what I was served as it was not flavourful. Sorry we cannot recommend.
