The Store Ampersand - Orono

This restaurant offers a variety of coffee options and can accommodate vegans easily. In my experience, they tend to specialize in hot coffees. It's a great spot to grab a quick bite (they offer a wide selection of local and Maine craft beers and some specialties) and enjoy a quality coffee without waiting in line at the nearby Nest on the road.

The cafe is a small coffee shop and health food store located in downtown Orono. It has a convenient central location. My experiences with the cafe have been a bit mixed. They offer delicious, large cookies, but unfortunately, none of them are vegan. The coffee is pretty good and they have a wide variety of coffee drinks. They also sell locally made bread, which is quite tasty. However, I was disappointed by their limited selection of vegetarian and vegan foods, especially when compared to other stores in the area. They mainly sell canned and frozen Amy's brand foods, along with a few other assorted items. I have encountered some expired or incorrectly labeled food items while shopping there. I would recommend visiting the cafe for coffee, cookies (if you are not vegan), or fresh bread.
