Bidra med feedbackReally wanted to love this place, but thought the El Spano Loco fish burrito was too mushy/soft overall, and the shredded beef was super salty. I also think it 's really strange that you need to purchase an entire side of salsa (enough for several people); they will not give you an individual amount, like most Mexican restaurants will.
We decided to check out Guapo 's despite some of the damning reviews here. We had an all-around excellent experience! We were seated promptly and received friendly, attentive service throughout the evening. The server was sensitive and accommodating to food allergies. My parents shared one of their famous 16 oz margaritas and I got a frozen piña colada- enjoyable but not revolutionary. The chips were fresh, warm and tasty. We enjoyed seeing buckets of fresh chips being prepared behind us. I ordered vegetable enchiladas with a mix of red and green sauce- this comes with a full ear of Mexican corn. The cheese level was satisfactory, and the enchiladas were tasty. There were large chunks of carrot inside, some which were a little hard to cut/chew. I would 've enjoyed more cheese IN the enchilada, but overall I was not disappointed in my dish. My mother got the Shrimp Fajita taco, and was raving about it! All in all, a very pleasant experience and I wouldn 't hesitate to return.
It's probably not possible to get passable Mexican food on the Cape, and you're definitely not going to find it at Guapo's. Came here with the family and forgot we had eaten here before, ugh. My nephew complained that his chicken burrito only had seven tiny pieces of chicken. I thought he was making it up, but he unwrapped his burrito and it was 99% rice. I had the surf and turf burrito. There were about six tiny pieces of meat, including three tiny bits of shrimp that would not equal even a single whole shrimp, and three tiny pieces of beef. I couldn't believe it, but I didn't want to make a fuss in front of my in-laws. On top of this, they sat us at a bar table with our infant. The bar tables require barstools, and are about four feet off the ground. When they brought a highchair, it was a standard high chair about three feet off the ground. How the heck is an infant supposed to sit there? Underneath the table? Chips and salsa were okay.
Been here several times and it is always good. The margaritas are strong and the complementary tortilla chips are warm. I've never gone wrong chimi-fying a burrito. Fish tacos are good, too. No, it's not very authentic Mexican food. But you're on the Cape, so I'm not sure what was expected.
Four and five star reviews surprise me... Maybe it's just me, but after two visits, I had enough of flavorless, inauthentic, and pricey (considering the quality and prep) slop. The owner needs to take a trip to Mexico, or at least to the Southwest or California. Chain restaurant Chili's may be better--and that's saying a lot.
