On a rainy day trip to Salem we were craving a hot meal to keep the hanger at bay! We had the Shrimp Grits and the Chicken Bread Pudding Waffles. It was some of the best comfort food we’ve had in years and the food and service was quick. Great modern diner decor with loads of natural light to top off an awesome experience. Try the Marionberry Cider or Spruce Tip Beer for a boozy brunch.

Had the (blackened) alligator poboy with gumbo. Both were perfectly seasoned, and had an excellent cajun spice flavor.

First time there and I was genuinely confused about the seating upon walking in (I was aware that we had to order at counter, but didn't realize they had to seat us from there) and when asking for clarification, I was met with a rude attitude. As for food, the sharable fries and burger were good, but definitely on the salty side. Awesome fried chicken sandwiches. Anytime I am remotely close to Salem I will find an excuse to stop by this place. The Hot Bird is my favorite. Not a fancy place but the staff have always been great and of course the food is amazing. It is on the pricey side but worth it.
