Bidra med feedbackOne of our favorite restaurants! Their restaurant is super nice and we love their decoration. The food is so good, we've tried so many different things and everything tasted amazing. They already have a lot of vegan options on their menu but they will make you basically everything you order vegan if you want. It doesn't matter if you go their for breakfast or dinner, they have plenty options and we loved everything we ordered!
New Year! New Diets! My coworker declared a healthy start to his New Year with a Vegan Keto diet, so being a supportive group we joined him at Mead's Green Door Cafe since they specialize in vegetarian and vegan meals. I was personally pretty excited since Mead's has been highly recommended by many of my fellow Yelp buddies and I have had this spot bookmarked for some time now. If it is your first time here, they have a small private lot and plenty of street parking available. Order at the counter, seat yourself, pick up your order when your name is called, and put away your own dirty dishes. The four of us shared an order of Roasted Sweet Potato Fries $4.75) which comes with an absolutely delicious Chipotle Ranch dipping sauce. I want that sauce on everything. The roasted sweet potato came out pipping hot. The insides were a bit soft and soggy so it did not have the BITE you imagine when you think of fries, but the flavors were spectacular. Two of my coworkers had the Taco Salad $10.75) which has the Roasted Buffalo Cauliflower as the protein replacement, black beans, tomatoes, corn, sliced olives on a been of greens and topped with sliced avocado and pepitas. They both seemed pleased with their food, especially with the flavor of the cauliflower. My other coworker had their Classic Cheeseburger $11) made with a house-made patty, crispy lettuce, on a potato bun with oven roasted tomato spread and his choice of cheese. This coworker was less satisfied with his meal, and felt a bit still hungry after complete consumption. I was torn between the Breakfast Pizza $12.95) and the Breakfast Taco $9.95). Cynthia, who was helping my order, highly recommended the Breakfast Pizza so I trusted her guidance. This delicious pizza is a flat bread with mozzarella and gouda cheese and then topped with delicious scrambled egg, house-made sausage and bacon, tomatoes and onions. The presentation was extremely cute as they present it in a heart shape. I really liked the cheese, egg, tomatoes and onions but the faux sausage and bacon were a bit salty for me. Nevertheless still delicious and I was the only one in the group who had leftovers for a later time. I don't recall what everyone got for drinks, but water is available for you to serve yourself if you did not order a drink. I had their Pomegranate Rosehip Kombucha $5.50) and I can't really say I tasted any distinguishing flavors. Generally I really love kombucha, but I can't say I would order it again here.; Extra shout out to Cynthia who was super sweet and amazing!! Mead's is a great spot for vegetarians, vegans or just anyone since the food is deceptively delicious, you will forget there is no meat in your meal! I feel like the food is a bit pricey to be fully satisfied on a vegetarian/vegan diet since my coworkers expressed hunger quite soon after our meals... but still an overall awesome spot.
Obviously I did not like the food here, but the ambience was nice in a hipster hippy kind of way. Lots of tattoos and interesting hair etc. This is an order and the counter and wait for them to call you kind of place, but expect to wait a while for your food. Oh that food that just doesn 't belong... Breakfast Quesadilla: Quesadilla implies cheese. This had almost none. It was fried eggs mixed with shredded carrot, diced onion, and broccoli bits, served in a whole wheat tortilla. Since the cheese was absent, the eggs didn 't even stick to the tortilla. It also came with sour cream and guacamole. The guac was pretty good, but the sour cream didn 't taste like sour cream. 1/5 This went mostly uneaten. Just not good. Chili Eggs: My wife said it was okay, but was watery and tasteless. It looked it. I didn 't taste it, as it just didn 't look at all appetizing. Buffalo Cauliflower: Basically plain cauliflower with a dusting of something that gave it the buffalo sauce color, but didn 't add flavor. Each of us tried a floret, but just one. The dipping sauce that came with it was too sweet and just didn 't belong. 1/5 (Threw it away. Buffalo cauliflower pizza: Tasted just like the cauliflower, same thing in fact, but on some type of focaccia, again with very little cheese and no sauce to speak of. It had kale, but it didn 't really add anything. It was described as tasting like cauliflower on bread. This diner didn 't mind, as she prefers food with very little flavor. BLT: Now this was the best thing we had, and two of us ordered it. It was well toasted, and filled with nice healthy things, including avocado, lettuce, tomato, and odd thin strips of fake bacon, called Bak 'n. It also had a paper thin slice of what I think was smoked gouda. The Bak 'n looked just like the Beggin ' Strips on the dog treat commercials, but I think the canine treats would have been an improvement. This wasn 't bad, but I wouldn 't eat it again. It lacked the expected bacon flavor and texture, and it had no mayo. Those are key. 2/5 Now I get that healthy food can taste really good. I 've made it, and had it served to me in other places where it was extremely flavorful and surprising. This place, with it 's consistently great reviews, was the biggest surprise from Yelp that I 've ever experienced. Cool place, but damn. Five of us ate lunch. One said the blt was pretty good. The other four all shrugged and used tasteless as the common descriptor.
My old roommate, who was vegan suggested I try this cafe. It was so charming and sweet. I love how much art there was. For a moment I felt like it could have been the house of an Hobbit who was an artist. I loved the ambiance and energy the place had. Food wise, I loved the Buffalo Cauliflower and the Raosted Beets Salad was good. The Aloha Pizza was too bready. The house made chili was ok and with vegan cheese and sweet potato fries... it was too heavy and didn't have too much flavor. My favorite hands down were the Cauliflower with the vegan ranch! Major yum!
I love this place I always order the same thing , the morning stack. It's a delicious sandwich with egg. I've also tried the cauliflower with Buffalo sauce . It's too spicy for my taste buds. They have very friendly staff and fast service. Most of their sweets are delicious. The price is reasonable for what you get. The parking is very limited and sometimes you have to park in the street.
