Bidra med feedbackMy companion and I dined at the Bistro Saturday evening, 4/20/2019, our first visit to this restaurant since before their disastrous fire and subsequent closure. We both had the house salad, the New York strip, and the Hedges Family Estate Cabernet. She had the blueberry cobbler, I the crème brûlée. The salad was excellent with the vinegarette dressing--fresh and very tasty. The New York strip was delicious, tender, and cooked to perfection--hers medium rare, mine medium. It was very nicely complemented with the Cabernet--a good one indeed, previously unknown to me. My brûlée was average--needed a bit of refinement; her cobbler--shared a bit with me--was superb. The service was excellent; the price (fixed-price menu) very reasonable for such great food and service. This restaurant highly merits your patronage, without which it will surly perish. Yes, its location is obscure hard to find the first time, but the food and service are worth the drive and searching.
This is an excellent restaurant for a special occasion! The location feels a little misleading because you literally drive down a road that seems to lead to a bunch of warehouses, but the interior is beautiful. The low lighting and quiet ambience is refreshing. I ordered the bread service, the corn and crab bisque, the duck, and the bread pudding. Everything was delicious! I took off one star because I ordered the duck medium rare, and it was served medium if not medium well. However, it was still tender and delicious! This was one of the best meals I've had in a while.
New restaurant with old name. New highly trained Chef. Great food. Delicious. Nice atmosphere and service. Wonderful place for a romantic evening or a special event. If you want to treat yourself to something special, this is where you want to go. Not a franchise quick service restaurant- elegant, made from scratch delicious food, fresh and local.
Believe the bad reviews and DO NOT EAT HERE!!! We came for dinner on a Wednesday evening. No hostess! There were two tables occupied in the entire restaurant. The waiter came out, did not greet us. Therefore we sat at a table. The waiter came back out, again ignored us. We left and went into downtown Opelika about a mile away and had a wonderful meal at Zazu's! The place has an odd, almost rotten meat background stink that the recent renovation has not improved. The location is hidden in the warehouse district and frankly looks like a great place to be mugged. I am almost certain this place is a front for laundering drug money. Between the background stink and the horrible service, everything seems geared to keep people away. I really do think it may be dangerous.
So glad they are open again! We had a delicious dinner here last week. All the food was delicious and the wines paired perfectly. Service was stellar. I see many dates here in the future. We sat in the little nook in the front dining room. The place is cozy and perfect for a special dinner. All the food was delicious. I especially enjoyed the crab corn bisque and the persimmon which was the set of the quail dish. Glad to see the brighter dining room and the fresh seasonal menu.
