Bidra med feedbackAs we walked by this place, the staff pursued us with the menu. My husband and I decided to have dinner here and ordered Enchiladas, stuffed hot peppers and beer. The food took forever to come and they messed up one of the dishes which lead to more waiting time. It was hard to get the attention of the staff once we had placed the order. Food was below average. When we got the bill, we saw that we are charged a 25% service tax. When asked the restaurant folks said that this tax is charged in Aguas Calientes. We had to pay it since they were not adamant and argumentative. Ridiculous, especially since the service was so bad. We checked with the hotel we were staying at and they said there is no such tax. We ate at another joint the next day and were not charged any such tax. As I remember the name of the restaurant is Chaska, but the pictures are the same as shared here on trip advisor. I wish we had looked up this place before trying it. Please avoid chaska/chaski.
This place was very moderate, food was very salty “vegetable soup” and lomo salzado was two mini strips of meat and onions with a lot of salt very little rice and about 5 potato friries! Great! Not only the food tasted terrible, service was terrible, they took forever a cold salty meal to serve, and when they calculate, they only wanted cash, even if they took cards once this b saw that my husband had bar she said oh sorry we did not accept cards and refused to take the card! Fearable experience, I complained and nothing was done except the guy who looked at me with a stupid face.
Nice place to sit down to have a pizza or some nachos with guacamole. If you sit in front of the restaurant, you can almost touch the train when it goes through the city.
We were looking for somewhere to have lunch before a train trip to Cusco and this place looked as good as any other along the restaurant strip. The service was slow and the food not very good. My lamb chops were as tough as old boots. My wife wanted something light so she ordered avocado with vinaigrette sauce. The sauce turned out to be a thick layer of a very heavy mayonnaise based sauce making the while thing pretty well inedible. However the main issue we had here was that a 30% service charge was added to our bill. When I questioned the waiter he first said that 's how things are done in Aguas Calientes then he changed track and said it was what his boss insisted on. After I complained he gave me a discount and dropped it down to an approximately 25% service change. Definitely a place to steer clear off. I wish I had read the other reviews first but as commented by another reviewer it 's actually the Chaska restaurant not the Chaski.
Like many restaurants in Peru, this is working on the bait and switch method to get your extra money. They tell you a price outside the facility as they announce you, and if you decide to eat here, you will be charged much more than what you were told less than an hour before. For example, they advertise a 20 single personal pizza, but you will calculate a minimum of 30 soles on your check as if the sign is not there.
