D'rocco's An Italian Joint - OCCOQUAN

This place is a hidden gem and apparently well kept secret among the loyal local community. I enjoyed dinner tonight and can't wait to come back with my family. The Italian dishes are delicious, the friendly staff makes you feel like family, and the ambience is perfect. They call it a joint because it's several different style rooms to accommodate anyone's needs. There is a cozy family style room with views of the town center and docks, an elegant rustic room for private events or a romantic setting, an awesome outdoor patio that overlooks the waterfront and fun tap room where the locals go for good drinks, music and casual dining. I love this place and recommend it highly!

I was sat as a solo diner shortly after 4pm as one of the only diners in the entire place. Ordered the penne alla vodka with a breaded chicken cutlet that was on special, only to be brought out a bowl of chunky marinara and diced grilled chicken bits. This is far from the traditional cream based dish that you can find at any Italian restaurant except here apparently. Extremely disappointed in my first time here and will not be returning. It’s definitely a one and done situation if that. My extra Parmesan cheese never came out either, otherwise service is extremely slow (though I’m the only one here really) but compassionate to kitchen errors. My server was very sweet in trying to make amends with the situation. Clark deserves a raise but needs to keep focus to the task at hand as he promised cannolis for the inconvenience and couldn’t even deliver on that properly. Tried comping bill after over an hour of unnecessary issues.

I made a quick stop here on my way to Williamsburg, I was not disappointed! Clark sat me by the water like i requested, super friendly guy, he did a great job and I ate the best eggplant parmesan I have ever eaten. Aurty was the cook and I was able to tell him how much I enjoyed it. Thank you for making this stop really enjoyable!! I will look forward till the next trip Food: 5
