Bidra med feedbackPicked up two orders of Fish & Chips last night. It was two strips of fish like Highliners Fish Sticks. Very lightly battered, extremely thin & dry. $44.00 for 2 people with coleslaw. Will not return there.
Tartan Fish and Chips has been our only go-to fish and chip restaurant for more than 30 years. This Oakville fixture has just-caught halibut, light and fluffy batter and great fresh cut french fries. The very best fish and chips in the world! Centrally located on Kerr Street.
I must be the minority here who doesn't rave about this place.I just find that the food here is between average and good.Granted that the service is fast and friendly, but the main thing about an eating place is the food.If I remember correctly, they charge for tartar sauce, an essential condiment to fish and chips. That was a huge disappointment. The menu price is also more expensive than similar joints in the area. People should search around, or am I the only one going for value for my money?
We had tried a number of fish & chips places in Oakville before hearing about Tartan, and after a visit there we agreed they were the best in town.We have had many visits since then to both eat in and to take out and are always pleased with the quality of the meal. The restaurant has seating for about 30 to 40 with 10 tables that I counted, mostly set up for four and a few for two.We enjoy having the halibut and chips with an order of fresh bread and butter and a nice pot of hot tea. The fish has a nice light batter and is not greasy as many places can be and the generous helping of chips are also good. The service is alway friendly and quick.I would definitely recommend Tartan Fish & Chips in Oakville.
Tartan has the best fish and chips in Oakville. Even travelled to Nova Scotia and Tartan was waaayyyy better.
