Church's Chicken - Oakland

My first time ordering from this chain. The chicken was hot and crunchy and absolutely delicious. Cooked perfectly. Im not in that area too often but I can't wait to go back!!

40th St. Cutting Blvd needs to improve the training of their cooks in East Oakland. While the staff is friendly, I was disappointed to see them simply dip chicken in flour and fry it without any seasoning. The chicken had a plain and unpleasant taste. The situation was similar in Richmond, where the food lacked flavor and had a burnt grease taste before noon. It is frustrating to pay $10 for food that I could easily cook better myself. It seems like they do not taste their food often. I have dined with others and would rather cook my own food than pay for bland chicken. The new tiny chicken wings were also disappointing, with the same plain taste despite the smaller size. There are salt-free seasonings available, so there is no excuse for serving flavorless food. Customers deserve tasty food, even if they do not cook it themselves. I am simply being honest in my review.

I went to Church's Chicken yesterday and ordered the 10-piece meal for $25. However, the friendly young lady suggested the Family Feast for $20, which included 5 jalapenos and biscuits that my friend wanted. My only issue, and the reason I didn't give it a 5-star rating, was that there was too much breading on the chicken, which I don't enjoy. I visit the restaurant every 2-3 months and am pleased that I no longer smell the rancid oil from across the street like I did in the past.

The restaurant currently only allows two people inside at a time for ordering, which is a reasonable precaution to ensure the safety of their employees. When I arrived at 7:30pm, I was the first in line outside the door along with two other customers already inside. After waiting for 5 minutes, another person joined me in line. Eventually, a worker came to let me in and informed me that they were out of chicken and french fries. While it's good that they sold out, I would give them 2 stars because it would have been more considerate for the restaurant to inform people waiting outside that they had run out of food, or simply post a sign on the door.

I do not recommend coming here. I ordered a very simple order , no one else was ordering and they shut down the drive thru. After ordering I waited for my order , another gentleman came in and was quickly served. He even thought it was for me but itwasn?t. I was forced to wait 15 minutes for stuff that was already cooked to be placed in a box. The cashier even completelysquished my muffin. I am a nice person who treats everyone the same. But after seeing how this cashier treated the people whohad the same color still as hers and forcing me to wait because we aren?t the same color. Stuff like this makes me not want tobe nice to everyone and treat people equal. I purchased the food for a homeless person who asked for food and even though hewasn?t my skin color I still did it. This place needs to be shut down because we all know she won?t be fired
