Swain Seafood Shack - Oak Island

Swains is one of our favorites in the Southport Oak Island area. We have eaten here four or five times since we moved to town in April 2022. It is one of our favorite places to take friends and visitors. While the ambience is not perfect, the food has always been delicious. The portion servings are of nice size, all the meals we've had have been tasty, and the desserts are a Homemade and delicious. Their house, balsamic vinegar, rat spicy salad dressing is delicious.

We all enjoyed a round of drinks, and wine to start our meal at Swain's Seafood Shack. They delivered us all good seafood which was cooked exactly as ordered by all five of us the evening we dined there. Their menu was slightly different because of its three chicken, and two beef offerings which you don't always have available at a seafood restaurant. Their daily catch was Grouper, so I was very pleased because that is what I ordered. Their service is prompt, respectful, and professional. There restaurant's ambiance has a typical seafood restaurant feel, and vibe on Oak Island, NC. It was the height of the summer vacation season so our interaction with our server was strictly transactional. Swain's offered us nothing noteworthy, and everyone felt it was an average restaurant experience. Please do not misunderstand my last statement as it was exactly what we expected, nothing more, nothing less.

It was absolutely awful. The food not only was expensive but it made the whole family sick!!!

Food is good huge servings. The furniture could use replacements. I needed a booster seat to sit at the bar. The stools are too short.

Look for the best restaurants in oak island this was rated 4.5 outta 5! in what life would this be considered that, the staff was friendly but the food had no seasoning, accept the fries and homemade chips. The fish Trigger and Grouper said catch of the day, my trigger came out in triangles and tasted the same as the grouper with no love in it! we waited 45 minutes for food and I was so Appalled that I gave them what our 2 meals cost $70 too expensive and would not send anyone there if you like seasoned food, everyone else keep enjoying. Just taking peoples money because it's a popular spot for families! Also, it was the end of the day and the cook just gave up on our food, I guess. id rather cook my own!
