If you want to have some fine Sushis and Dimsums then Oko is the place for you.Their Salmon baked sushi and prawn har gao dimsums are mind blowing. The ambiance is totally grooving as they have come up with a bar and dj setup so music with food made my meal pretty good.In mocktails the cool breeze is the one to go for!
We finally made it to OKO last week.<br/ I have had OKO food in Both Chandigarh and Bangalore before. Hence the expectations were huge.<br/ What we loved:<br/ The view of Delhi city from 28th floor of Lalit Hotel is awesome. <br/ The ambience where Bar and Teppanyaki section is warm and welcoming. I am curious to know how it's like over lunch as one could probably see more of Delhi in the day light.<br/ Who went: 3 of us.<br/ What did we order:<br/ Crystal Dimsums: Loved them. They don't come as a measly portion of 4 (like most 5 stars do), They come as 6 pieces in 1 dish. Sufficient enough for 1 person or easily shareable bw 2-3 people.<br/ Taste wise this was bang on. <br/ Chilli Edamame: Good appetiser that can be shared.<br/ Veg Som Tam Salad: Lovely dish. Once again the quantity is very good. This was very fresh and the sauce was just too delicious.<br/ Veg Soba Noodles: Star on our table. I seriously could have eaten 1 more portion of this. This is simple comfort food made well. Kudos to the chef.<br/ Veg sushi: This was ok. Could be better.<br/ <br/ In Desserts, our hostess requested we try Coconut Caramel Custard: 2nd Star on the table. We polished it off. Not too sweet, not too heavy. I will order this again without thinking.<br/ <br/ My friends had ordered various prawn and salmon dishes. They loved most of them.<br/ <br/ Oko serves pretty much everything: Thai, Japanese, Chinese, teppanyaki, Sushi etc.. Perfect for groups I say.<br/ Service is top notch but then you don't expect anything less from Lalit. The hostess knew every dish and every ingredient that goes in it.<br/ I love it when they know what they are serving.<br/ Price wise: At par with other star properties.<br/ <br/ On a different note: Amazing to see Gender Neutral Washrooms. This is a game changer for hospitality. Sad to see that no one other than lalit is doing this.<br/ <br/ I cannot wait to come back. have been told their brunches are even better.
A baker and a cake artist by day I moonlight as food-digger experimental ‘bawarchi ‘by night. Enclosed here are snippets of this exhilarating travel food voyage entwined with little smidgens of art, lifestyle and everything else in between that captures my fancy. Friday, 6 September 2019
Not often are you wowed by view, decor, food and service of a restaurant, all at once. OKO at Lalit has cracked the code !! Perched on the 28th floor of The Lalit, the 94 cover restaurant offers stunning 360 degree views of Delhi. If its a clear day, you can easily identify Jama Masjid, Red fort, India gate and loads of other important landmarks across Delhi from the huge windows around the place. The decor of is classy yet not overwhelming. A lot of care has been taken to ensure standard colours and theme across all the 5 OKO restaurants in India. The pan asian restaurant offers delicacies from Japan, China, Thailand, Vietnam and Korea but on this visit I tried the exclusive Songkran (Thai New Year) menu curated by Chef Suriya.<br/ <br/ We started with Tofu satay served with peanut sauce and “Kai Makharm” which essentially is grilled chicken topped with tamarind sauce. Am not generally a big tofu fan but absolutely loved the chicken which was really nicely done and the tangy tamarind sauce ensured an explosion of refreshing flavours with every bite. The crispy lotus stem with roasted chilli paste was brilliant as well. All these starters were complimented by two exceptional salads. The “Yam Mamoung” which is the raw mango salad with lemon chilli sauce and the “Yam sam O”, the pomelo salad which was my favourite bit of the afternoon. This was followed by a very hearty and soulful bowl of Khowsuey. While a lot of you might associate the noodle curry soup with Burma but its equally popular in Thailand and Laos. The Burmese Khowsuey is thicker but the Thai version is slightly more runny and slightly more robust because of the use of Thai herbs and spices, says Chef Suriya.<br/ <br/ For the mains we tried the “Phad Thai”, some stir fried prawns with curry powder, the “Kai phad khing” which is chicken with ginger, mushroom, baby corn and onion along with some jasmine rice. Loved the diverse flavours and textures. Some very strong and aromatic herbs and spices are used in these preparations but we need to take our hats off to chef for the balance in each and every dish. We ended the meal with an almost perfect dessert of sweet sticky rice with mango and at the same time I made silent promises to myself to revisit OKO soon and try the other Asian delicacies on offer. Overall, a fantastic dining experience. The efficiency service orientation of the team would leave you spell bound and keep you coming back for more.<br/
