Oriental Chef - Nottingham

We have been regular customers here for many years.....but no more. Ordered and paid online this evening (not a massive order , only three items) and our confirmation email, timed at 6.32pm, said delivery within 60 mins . We live approx. one mile from the shop. By 7.32pm the order had not arrived, but not to worry. It was Saturday evening, a busy time for them, so we gave them time. At 8.04pm still no delivery, so I telephoned them. I was told the delivery driver has just left and was on her way . At 8.32pm she still hadnt delivered our food, so I telephoned them again. This time I was told she was one minute away . The order eventually arrived at 8.39pm. It was only lukewarm and clearly not freshly cooked, but I couldn 't be bothered to phone and complain for a third time. They told me on the phone they would give me a credit on a future order, but there won 't BE a future order from us. I recommend you avoid The Oriental Chef. It has gone a long way downhill from the excellent (and reliable) takeaway it used to be. There are two or three others in the local area and one of them will get our business in the future.

Ordered for delivery. Took almost 2 hours. Rang them after 1.5 hours and they said it was on its way. Arrived 20 minutes later. Food was cold. Won’t order from there again

Decided to give them one more chance, my own stupid fault I guess. The food took one hour and forty minutes to arrive after being told half that at the longest. I enquired after an hour to be told ten minutes longer maximum, nope, another forty minutes made the total 1h 40m. When it did arrive, two of the three items were warm not hot, the third, just ordinary chips were cold fair to say they were good looking cold chips. Unfortunately, heat is the primary concern when consuming food meant to be hot. The staff seem ill equipped to handle more than one customer at any one time. This is the second time since I stopped using them well over a year ago. That previous order was just late and warm. Not good, but, better than late very late and cold. It wouldn’t be so bad if they took some responsibility and acted as if they wanted to get back to satisfactory, no one is asking for perfection, but, satisfactory seems a long way off. I will never go back, I already feel a fool for hoping they got better in a year and a half. My own fault for giving them the benefit of the doubt.

The food doesn’t test like Chinese food I usually order from another takeaway. Chicken fried rice tests like boiled rice.

Best takeaway by far, food is amazing cooked to perfection. Open kitchen so you can see your food being cooked by the great staff. Loads of different choices on the menu to choose from, and the cheesecakes and ice creams are yummy. Easy parking to pick your food up.
