Tried and proven Adelaide formula for a Fish Cafe. It's always fresh and well done seafood - but is really fish and chips in a sit down environment. Always nice to know the seafood is all Australian - with most of it from SA with a few exceptions like the scallops from QLD. Kids meals a good too - with decent piece of fish. Would just love these guys to get their chips right - the funny potato wedges are always a let down (never crispy) and also to whack on a decent craft beer. I remember getting a prancing pony a while back - but no such luck this time. For something that features a lot of local produce -- seems like it would be a good fit. Also a decent housemade tartare (it's not that hard). Frustrating it's simple things that stop it from being a notch higher.
Absolutely abysmal! Quick Gordon Ramsay .... Help these guys out before they sink this ship. $95 for a platter for two and sparkling water. I haven't felt that dissatisfied by what was served in a long time. One slice of lemon each. Had to ask for tartare. Waitress grumpy and down right foul to deal with. She asked us if we would like the platter put on a frame. Just put it on a frame for $95! Decor tired and old. Restaurant cold. Seafood over cooked. Prawns and calamari tasted like PFD rubbish. Laminated menus. Food presented at the table was a plate of salad and chips with the other rubbish on another centre plate. Salads and breads were prepared in an area in front of us clearly not up to standard for a food preparation area (carpet on floor). The health inspector at the council should look at this.
This restaurant is stuck in some kind of time warp. It's a fish restaurant & the 2 choices of fish I would have chosen weren't available. The whiting & scallops I had were very average & the 'wedges' were awful with no flavor obviously cooked in cheap vegetable oil. For what you get, including the lack of finesse in how it's served it is also overpriced.
