Bidra med feedbackUnfortunately, this cafe has become limited and has lost its charm since Wafflemeister left. They need to expand their menu and offer a greater variety of products. It's not very appealing at the moment. It seems like they were left in a tough spot when Wafflemeister left, but they should be able to offer similar products for families. It only costs £40 to buy a waffle machine, so it's a shame they haven't taken advantage of that. Even their drink selection is quite small. It's a missed opportunity.
This restaurant used to be a favorite of ours many years ago, known for their delicious sandwiches and cakes. However, it has since gone downhill. The location is still amazing, offering beautiful views of the lake and plenty of small birds visiting the feeders. Unfortunately, the lack of feeders now means very few birds can be seen. The most disappointing aspect is that everything is disposable, with paper plates, cups, and wooden utensils. This does not make for an enjoyable dining experience. The food options are limited and the quality is just okay, nothing special or memorable. There were very few customers during our visit, and it's clear why - the atmosphere felt cold and soulless. Management should consider returning the restaurant to its former charm if they want to succeed.
Being rudely told to pick up our cardboard litter from the table after purchasing food at this restaurant was disgraceful. It wasn't even busy at the time. We would have happily wiped down the tables ourselves if given a cloth. It felt more like we were in a fast food restaurant than a nicer establishment. The staff at McDonald's are at least pleasant. I suggest the man on duty observe the excellent service at the gift shop next door. I won't be returning to this restaurant on my next visit to Kielder.
We visited here today, having been last year when it was called the Wafflemeister. Sadly, it’s now a very average cafe. Seem to have a lack of staff as tables were vacant but full of the previous occupants debris. Shortage of food (no ham sandwiches, no sausage rolls). The menu is limited….and sadly no waffles, despite being the same owners. It could be so much better.
We assumed the cafe was closed. We walked in and someone was hoovering and it took a while to catch her eye. She said it was open but was hoovering as it was empty. We ordered a coffee and hot chocolate to drink in. They came in paper cups which was a shame. There was a lovely looking carrot cake with a huge amount of frosting on the top so we ordered a slice. We were given the end slice which had no frosting and was extremely dry. We threw it in the bin. The cafe was empty, not far from closing time. Why give your only customers one slice with no frosting when you had a whole cake to choose from? Frustrating and wont return.
