Bidra med feedbackCozy, clean, beautiful location. We look forward to visiting every year! A perfect northern Michigan experience.
After a long weekend at Sunrise Landing I could not be happier with my decision to stay here. We stayed in The Cottage room and we were excited at the end of the day to go back to our room after a long day. From the amenities in the room to the cleanliness, to the comfiness of the bed and couch, I cant say enough good things about this place. It was super easy to check in and the breakfast coffee and snacks in the office were a nice treat. The managers/owners were very nice and texted us to let us know if we needed anything. Gorgeous views and a nice outdoor space as well as the drive in made it very cozy and inviting. A small slice of heaven. Highly recommend and cant wait to stay here again!
What a quaint little place. I have to say, my first impression driving down the drive was Ooh, this place certainly has character wasn 't sure if that was a positive or negative at first. Definitely a positive! We were immediately greeted by Ivan the cat, lounging in the sun. Then 3 more pets came sauntering out, all dogs, Ginger, Bubba Maddy. Since they were animal lovers, I was going to give them at least 3 stars even if the place was a hole, which it wasn 't, by far). There was one more pet in the mix, Gracie the cat, which I was never able to capture a picture of. The place is small I think only 11 rooms, 3 suites, 3 kitchenettes, and 5 standards). Walking into our room, 105, I felt like I was taken back to the late 1980 's. Although the look is quite retro, the rooms, decor, and furniture have been immaculately taken care of. So it looked retro, but it didn 't smell old, and nothing was in disrepair. The walkways to the rooms are a little precarious. My mother way using a cane, and the brick paved pathway sometimes caught her cane. The L-shaped building faces the water, Grand Traverse Bay/Northport Bay, and is an awesome, awesome view. We took a stroll down to the beach, which was modest in size, but it had a fire pit, several chairs and a picnic table. The owners provided us with wood, kindling, matches, paper and a wheeled cart to have a sunset fire. The beds slept fine, but it took a good 3 minutes to get hot water. Let it run. The first night i went to shower after the bonfire, and was convinced we had no hot water. I left it running to go out and complain, but the owners were already sleeping. I didn 't want to wake them, so I went back to the room, and the water was just starting to get warm. Just be patient. Although this place doesn 't have sparkling, new finishes, it has a great 'feel ' to it. It is close to many wineries, and less than 5 miles to Northport a cute little town). Do yourself a favor and stay here rather than somewhere in Traverse City, believe me, you won 't be disappointed.
So glad we decided to stay here for a girls weekend away in Traverse City. The motel is right off the lake and you are maybe 50-100 ft at the beach from your motel room! One of the most adorable places to stay in Traverse City period! The area is very private down a long road with maybe 10 rooms. We got the double full beds as there were two of us. I loved that our room was super retro. The microwave, fridge, comforters-it was super cute! The rooms also have a tv will a large selection of cable channels and you do have an A/C unit. And to make sure I mention the rooms were clean. The place is pretty quite and peaceful at night. My friend and I sat out at night looking out into the lake and had a morning just relaxing while we had some tea and coffee. They offer complementary coffee, tea, muffins and cinnamon rolls in their office. The owners were super nice and friendly. Even got to meet their cute daughter and fluffy cat. The only cons were the shower, sink and heating. The sink wouldn't give us hot water unless we had just used the shower. Shower took a few minutes to heat up. And we couldn't get the heat to work. To be fair we didn't bring any of this up to management as we barely were in our room other than to sleep. It wasn't a big deal whatever as we loved staying here! I can't wait to come back here in the future and have another girls getaway!
It had been many years since we had stayed here. We liked it then but love it now. Rooms are very clean, they added retro looking fridges and microwaves. Nice little touches in the bathrooms. Amazing views as always. This place is great for an up north feeling vacation.
