Yokoso izakaya - Northcote

As fan of Japanese eating I was very excited when I discovered yokoso izakaya in my neighborhood. we ordered soft bowl scraping sushi roll that was.

Absolutely charming place. the food tastes authentic and the decor reminds me of my stays in japan. sashimi melts in your mouth and cuts well.

Delicious, got the spits combo that came with six different species (mushrooms, veggies, huh, etc. they were all delicious! I wish I could find a place.

We had a great time at this restaurant. The food was delicious! We visited Japan for our honeymoon last year and were thrilled to experience those flavors again. The yakitori was tasty, although the portion sizes were a bit small for the price. The scallops and Wagyu beef were incredibly tender. There were plenty of gluten-free options available. The house sake went down very easily. We definitely plan on returning! I wrote this review in 2019 and since then we have been back multiple times. The food is consistently excellent. This is probably our favorite Japanese restaurant in Melbourne. We also appreciate the cool ghost character. Make sure to book a table in advance as it is always busy.

I have dined at this restaurant once before and was pleased with the food at that time. However, our meal tonight was quite disappointing. The dishes were bland, lacking flavor, and overall unappetizing. The service was good and efficient, but the disappointing food overshadowed it. Perhaps it was just an off night, or maybe they have a new chef.
