Bidra med feedbackOGBG used to be the jewel of the North York area for casual Korean dining. For many years (10+? , I've eaten the most well known Korean dishes at this location but something has unfortunately changed. The food's lost it's "great" taste. By no means this mean it was a bad experience, but it just wasn't the same as it was a few years ago. Service was average and prices have risen. Although the price point is unavoidable, my hope is that they go back to form on what's most important; the food.
I wanted to try something different. Usually when I visit a Korean restaurant, I will get BiBimBap or Pork Bone Soup. This time, I ordered the JaJangMyun $8) which is 'noodles plus grounded meat in a black bean sauce. ' The flavour was a bit bland, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. My meal came with the usual banchan. My server was cheery and attentive. I look forward to trying something new hopefully sometime soon!
-7 degrees outside, snowing and this restaurant is still full =D. 4.5<br/ <br/ They brought out a complimentary green onion pancake before we even ordered! Crispy. Mmmm.<br/ <br/ We ordered a dish I don't know the name for. It served two and came with rice. It was served on a hot pot burner. Sort of a soup/stew with assorted ingredients like enoki mushrooms, spam, wiener (sausage), onions, green onions, tofu, rice cake (ddukbokki), pork, ramen, cheese, kimchi. Hot and delicious. Cost about $28.<br/ <br/ Things to note. The rice was purple rice (no need to upgrade). They served 8 banchan (side dishes) before our meal came. There was kimchi, cucumber kimchi, tofu with spicy sauce, japchae, bean sprouts, sliced cucumber (not sure how this one was cooked), shredded potato and some potato chunks covered in a sweet, slightly spicy sauce. It was my first time trying that last one and it was incredible. Had I not been so full, I would have asked for more.<br/ <br/ The menu said this one dish was for 2 people, but we ended up having a bowl of rice and almost half our dish left over. Doggy bagged it! Thrilled. Total damage after tax, before tips was just over $31.<br/ <br/ Oh. They give you orange slices when you ask for your bill. They don't have takeout menus. Service was fairly good.<br/ <br/ Will definitely be back.
Great restaurant! Fair pricing, tons of good free korean appetizers, good service and damn good Bimbimbop. The only place I know if with better Bimbimbop in the area is bok Chang don soon tofu which is a must visit. Overall good experience here.
Deliciousness! Definitely satisfy any Korean cravings! Best part was the great variety of side dishes. Rice cakes were soft and flavourful. Soup was yummy! No complaints.
