Bidra med feedbackNewly renovated restaurant located in the heart of downtown. New restaurant ant inside holiday inn hotel.
We visited The Carlton last year when we were in town for a couple drs appts. I ordered the seafood risotto and it was AMAZING. Our hotel had been booked by WSIB and for the life of me I couldnt remember which hotel this restaurant was in. I was craving this risotto for a year lol. Then last month we were in town for another drs appt booked by WSIB and I was so excited when I realized I found the risotto again. I ordered it again of course but the menu had changed since our last visit so the risotto was a bit different but equally as good. I have a shrimp allergy and they had no problem substituting extra scallops for my shrimp. We're heading back for another appt tomorrow and as usual I will be ordering the risotto :
An honest review: I've been a frequent customer at this restaurant for several months now and let me tell you, it's one of the best places to dine for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Located inside the Holiday Inn hotel, Carlton Restaurant offers a modern, affordable fine dining experience without breaking the bank. I'll start by saying that their customer service and hospitality are always exceptional and surpasses my expectations and I dine here around 2-4x a month coming from out of town. They've recently updated their lunch and dinner menus that offer a variety of options to accommodate for any food preferences, or diet restrictions without compromising quality, or taste. The restaurant manager Sean and hard working servers: Rafael, Kandiah and Yohannes are the best and very attentive when it comes to making sure you truly enjoy your dining experience. The chef actually came out to greet us and see if we enjoyed the food which was a nice touch. For breakfast I had a made to order omelette and various breakfast foods from the buffet. There are so many buffet options ranging from pre made fruit parfaits, smoothies, cereals, pastries to traditional bacon, eggs and sausages. All of the breakfast buffet selections were delicious and were replenished often so their was always some to take. I've been to many other hotel breakfast buffets and Carlton has the best quality buffet breakfast by far in comparison. For lunch I've tried their Atlantic salmon and it was amazing, it was served with rice with spinach and a side of sauteed veggies and it was very filling and I highly recommend it as a healthier lunch option. For dinner I ordered their sirloin steak and it was cooked medium rare, served with sauteed veggies. Both were cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. As for desserts, my boyfriend and I have tried the New York style cheese cake, turtle cheese cake and double chocolate brownie cake which were all delectable if you have a sweet tooth. Overall, Carlton will be a staple go to restaurant for me and highly recommend you check this place out and you'll be glad you did!
So inside the Holiday Inn Downtown Toronto there are actually 2 restaurants downstairs. One is The Carlton Restaurant which is where breakfast is served and where the more elaborate sit-down service is held. The other restaurant is Thirty . It 's basically a bar atmosphere with plenty of TVs and a lounge feel. Both restaurants use the same kitchen so I feel I can review both places at the same time. Here goes! Atmosphere/Appearance: As I mentioned earlier Thirty is more of bar setting with deep, dim lighting and nice comfortable leather chairs. The Carlton Restaurant also has 2 sides. One is more enclosed (which I never visited) and the other is wide open which stretches out into the hotel lobby. Breakfast is served here and makes for a great escape to shoot right outside to start your day whenever you 're done... after you pay your bill of course. Service: The several times I ordered from Thirty Lina took care of me. She had the most awesome accent and was so friendly. She was a pleasure to deal with even though our interactions were short since I had ordered things to go. I can 't remember the names of the gentleman that helped me during the breakfast buffets, but they didn 't miss a beat either. They always had everything I needed whenever I needed it. Food: So I managed to try every flavor of their wings, their Triple Decker Club Sandwich and Caesar Salad. They were all quite good! The sandwich surprised me honestly. You know, it 's a club sandwich. Lol. It was simple turkey, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, bacon, mayonnaise all between wheat bread slices. It was so good! I would absolutely get it again. Now to the wings. Eh... not the best. I was able to try the Buffalo, Sweet Chili, Honey Garlic and dry rub. The dry rub would be my favorite, but they 're all battered and fried so yeah... no one needs those. Still, the food was solid. The breakfast buffet however, is quite extensive. Fresh fruits, eggs, waffles, parfaits and so many more things are available to you. It 's absolutely worth getting some breakfast here before venturing out to start your day. Value: All prices are in $CAD. Triple Decker Club $16.00 6 Wings $12.00 Kale Quinoa Salad $10.00 Add salmon $7.00 Caesar Salad $10.00 You know how hotels are with their food. They think you 'll be too lazy to leave the premises so they jack the prices of their food up knowing you 'll pay them. So yeah, the prices are just a bit elevated, but eh... In conclusion these places are cool, (especially for breakfast if you get the vouchers), but there are SO MANY places to eat within walking distance. Give this place a try then make a decision on your own. If I could give 1/2 stars I 'd give this place 3.5 stars.
I had the Mediterranean chicken with sweet potato mash and my husband had the Rib eye, both were fantastic!! This is a must try even if you aren't staying at the hotel.
