I love this one we only visit once in the year itteringham, but having this practical community business on our doorstep is a joy. we can order our weekly papers, the products are top quality, the cakes are amazing and the staff a joy. I've said it before, and every village should have one again!
During our scenic walk in Little Barningham, which includes Itteringham, we stumbled upon Itteringham café and decided to take a break. We were so impressed by the warm farewell that we decided to indulge in some drinks. I had heard great things about their cakes, so I had to try one. Needless to say, the cakes lived up to their reputation. We also noticed a delicious looking cake on display, and the customers ahead of us were raving about it. This prompted us to try it for ourselves, and we were blown away by the lime and coconut cake. It was truly the best cake we had in a long time. The staff at the café were friendly and accommodating, making our experience even better. They even offered to bring more water for our dog, which was a thoughtful gesture. If you find yourself in the area, don't hesitate to visit Itteringham café - you won't be disappointed.
I have not written any reviews before, but I am disappointed when I see uneducated and speculative reviews like the ones mentioned by individuals in Lincoln. Even though I am not connected to the shop locally, I believe they deserve recognition for their hard work in recent months. Despite facing challenges, the shop has remained open and increased their deliveries to help those in need in the community. They have gone above and beyond to support locals, even going as far as traveling to different locations to obtain supplies when some suppliers stopped delivery. The employees worked tirelessly without the same protections as larger stores during the lockdown period. I have seen disrespectful customers from outside the community, who seem to only care about their own opinions. It is important to support this outstanding community shop and acknowledge the selfless work they have done. Let's show appreciation for this fantastic local resource and the efforts they have made. - JonnyP
We have been visiting Itteringham for many years and have always used the village shop. On our most recent visit we arrived late afternoon (as always) and headed straight over to the community shop to stock up on essentials only to find the shop was...closed. Whilst I appreciate the virus has changed the way the world operates on some levels I cannot understand why the local shop wasn’t open. All the other businesses we visited over the week we stayed in Norfolk opened normal hours but with the extra precautions in place. Given this shop is a community asset and historically was always run on a none profit basis I can’t see how it will continue to be viable if it isn’t open at least hours a day. There were at least two days during our week in Itteringham when we arrived back from a day out and thought how lovely it would have been if we could have popped over to the shop for a coffee and cake but couldn’t because for some inexplicable reason the shop closes at Is this due to a safety issue the virus) or a lack of resources. Itteringham and surrounding villages have a large proportion of holiday accommodation and a shop locally is a huge benefit, but not if it isn’t open when people arrive, tired and ready to have some homemade refreshments. Sadly I think people will find alternative sources for food. I remember the shop being much more casual and accessible back in the day.........what’s changed and why? Very disappointed as are some of our guests who have visited recently.
