Great selection of burritos and tacos that can be made vegan! Sundays (as of summer 2021) include vegan specials not on the normal menu.

Pelon's is amazing because you can get almost anything on the menu veganized. They have vegan subs for chicken, steak, fish, chorizo, sour cream, and cheese. They do something to the vegan chicken that makes it super tasty, like it's a little blackened. The vegan steak is delicious as well. I highly recommend the vegan Hang Ten burrito, which includes faux chicken, rice, black beans, guac, verde sauce, vegan cheese, and onion. Pick from shelves of hot sauces. Get a margarita while you wait or finish off with a vegan brownie. If you're looking for super authentic Mexican food, this might not be the place for you, but for a fun Mexi/Cali/surf inspired experience with endless vegan options, Pelon's is the best. They have a location at the VB Oceanfront too. Service usually fine but it's an order at the counter system where they give you a number. Once an employee yelled in the middle of the restaurant that nobody was using their numbers.

Pelon’s baja grill has more than your average number of vegan options. They can veganize a lot of stuff for a 15% upcharge. Yes it costs extra, and no, i dont like that. However, usually when a mexican restaurant makes something vegan it means no cheese, no meat, no sour cream, and no sauces. Not the case here. They have vegan chickan, beef, carne asada, soyrizo, cajun fried tofu, sour cream, and sauces. They also know how to cook with these things. I highly recommend stopping here if you have a taste for mexican food! Oh yea comes with plastic silverware, so bring your own.

Lots of vegan options- even most of the meat-centric items can be replaced with meat substitutes, if that’s your thing. And they’re good! The vegan chorizo tacos are some of the best tacos I’ve ever had.
