Angler's - Newport

My son took us for Mother's Day Dinner. We ordered a seafood platter, with fried haddock, large shrimp and scallops and full belly clams. I was thinking there probably wouldn't be much haddock. Boy was I wrong! Huge haddock filled on the top of all the other seafood! I was glad hubby and I shared that platter! We also had an appetizer of deep fried mushrooms which were excellent!Loved the food, service and the deco Parking: Large easy to get into parking lot, even with so many people there that day. Kid-friendliness: Seating for large family groups, very friendly efficient servers!

Wonderful food. Cooked just right. Great wait staff.

I've been eating at Angler's in Newport since I was 5. I'm 66 and I still get the same fantastic Haddock dinner,garlic mashed potatoes and squash. I've never changed because it's the best fried Haddock I've ever had. I love it all, but it's the only place that all the food is soooo great! I always go there for my birthday every year.Best present ever.I'll be coming back on June 4th this year for my birthday. Awesome food and great service.

We came to Anglers Newport for lunch. It was a Tuesday at 12:30 so no wait, sat right down. I ordered the whole belly fried clams. They were just okay, I’ve definitely had way better in many spots across the state (saw the seafood truck from Mass Upon arrival so probably not the most local/freshest) but they were tolerable. I usually wouldn’t leave an overall negative review for just food.It was our waitress who was not up to par at all. Seemed uninterested in engaging with our party, which is fine, I get it. But when she disrespected my wife and basically argued with her, telling her she didn’t order something because she wrote it down on the paper wrong, i got mad. She ordered the fish and chips, which come with fries (naturally) and one additional side. She got a Cesar with that, which came out before the meal just fine. Then she shows up with our meals and hands my wife just one sad looking fried fish fillet. She asks where the fries are, and the waitress told her she didn’t order fries, she got coleslaw (which everyone at the table knew she did not). But because that’s what she had written she told my wife she had. The kicker was that she didn’t even bring the coleslaw though! So after an unnecessary back and forth, she asks my wife if she wants the chips (fries) which of course she says yes. Comes back in 5 minutes and slams down a plate of actual chips and not fries. Was completely rude about it. Terrible enough service we won’t be returning.

Always good. I order the haddock minnow; very good. The breading is very light.
