If you want to indulge without breaking the bank, this is the place to go! Incredible portions, delicious food and fabulous service from all staff, particularly Emelia! The Swiss burger was our favourite and the cheese balls. We will be back, thanks so much guys!

Right, let's get this straight... My friends and i have been eating at the fat hippo for years... Not any more... Menu probably half to 3/4 of the burger choice has gone it's a burger bar WTF ! STAFF The lass that served us was great nice and friendly. PRICE... 70 quid for 3 burgers and 3 drinks... Outrageously expensive for what it was.... The burgers were poor.....the food over all was at best warm... the dirty fries were sent out as normal fries... then sent back out topped off and sent back out... stone cold and rock hard.... The drinks.... A 330ml can of warm beer for 5 quid A 330ml can of warm cider for 5 quid A glass of house white wine for 8 quid To the manager.... Sort the menu out. Sort the drinks out. Sort the place out. Pull your own finger out before blaming others and especially sort the kitchen out... MASSIVELY MASSIVELY DISAPPOINTED If you want absolutely great burgers go to Lola Jeans.... 100x better than the fat hippo.... Prove me wrong... 28th Oct 2023.

The food was beautiful, and definitely worth the price, but the service was quite slow. It was a busy night, with lots of people getting food before going to a Newcastle match, however, so that probably affected it.

Arrived here for as quick bite as were going to the Tyne theatre. Staff great as always and can have a good conversation instead of being robots which is nice Location/decor just off grey street so great for drinks before or after. Decor is rustic and has many local landmarks on the ceiling and walls which is really good. Food didn’t do starters but went straight in for the Mains which we both have the classics which is filling and good for somewhere to get the basics right each time. We also ordered one normal fires and one loaded fires which I think is worth it with the bacon bits and sauce on. Drinks as I was driving so went for the safe Pepsi. Would recommend unless going on the drink that night!

Excellent burgers and great options for veggie, vegan and gluten free (buns and sides nearly all GF) which is pretty rare. Staff excellent and showed really good awareness of dietary requirements. Highly recommended.
