Bidra med feedbackHad our Christmas lunch yesterday and it was excellent. The staff are excellent and the food was great and the atmosphere amazing. We go to this restaurant nearly every week and the food is always of the highest quality and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Would highly recommend The Hand and Trumpet
Duncurin and family descended on this wonderful pub/restaurant this afternoon. We chose this because in the past we'd met friends here who have two dogs and also because of its convenient location. Today, members of our family were arriving from Bromsgrove, Macclesfield, Shrewsbury and we were journeying down from Manchester. We thought that its location would suit everyone. All went well apart from family members from Shrewsbury who somehow got lost and ended up at Keele university. Although we were more than happy to wait for them, the 90minutes, we were worried about the pressure on the restaurant and also demand for the table at this busy time of year. Well, the staff could not have been more friendly, more accommodating nor more patient. They reassured us that we had until 8pm (we were booked at 12:15 and they were more than happy just to await events. So, although our meal started later than we had planned, because of the two who'd got lost, within minutes of them arriving the staff had taken our meal order, supplied us with more drinks and in no time at all we were served wonderful nibbles, main courses and fabulous deserts. All the staff were bright, efficient and friendly and the whole thing turned into a really pleasant way of spending an otherwise cold and wet lunch and afternoon. Thank you very much.
We have been visiting this restaurant for several years, but unfortunately, the quality has declined recently. We have given this place many chances by trying different dishes, but we have been disappointed so often. The Sunday pork seemed to not have been cooked fresh, as it tasted like it had been defrosted and reheated. It was dry and cold. The roasted potatoes also seemed to have been reheated and had tough, leathery skin. The chicken pie was baked so hard that it flew off the plate when I tried to cut it, and the mash was almost cold. The steak pie was also hard and lacked filling, and the mushy peas were cold. The fish and chips had poor quality fish that was mostly broken. The sausage was cold and the mustard was lacking in flavor. After so many disappointing meals, I will not be returning. I will stick with the Crown until this restaurant changes its management, chef, and food quality.
This is our neighborhood restaurant, but we often bring visitors to dine here. They always comment on how great the staff is. Tonight, we tried the grilled cheese toast, which was the best we have ever had. It came rolled up with a delicious garnish that included ginger. I usually order the homemade soup, but it wasn't available tonight, so we tried something different.
On Sunday, was very quiet when we arrived and order, but eating lasted almost 2 hours to arrive. chicken cake was cold and in the ground bad quality, it sent back for a refund, the staff was quite terrible to be honest. the prices are astronomical for the quality of the food they serve when they are a bark roast and extra extras (in my opinion this should be piled of a Sunday dinner and included) of potatoes, cauliflower cheese and some pigs in cover, their lunch will be £33... absolutely crazy. so much better now in the counter, crown, broughton etc. I'm pretty sure the h
