We were looking for a place to lunch will visiting Newburyport. Very nice place. The decor is beautiful. We were a group for lunch and the staff was able to find us a place. The food was great. This opinion was shared by all people in my group. Theprice are good also.

Don't expect a high-end experience at this restaurant. It has a cool dive feel and is a popular hangout for locals. The bartenders are excellent and the establishment has improved over the years. The wine selection could be improved, but the beer options are typical. Keep in mind that I have only tried the drinks here, so I can't speak to the food quality.

As a Newburyport native, The Whale is like a second home to me. I have often observed that if you are from Newburyport and looking to reconnect with someone you haven't seen in a while, you are likely to find them at The Whale. It is always a welcoming place where you feel right at home.

Friendly staff, good food. Nice decor. Loved it. Prices are fair.
