La Toulousaine - New York City

This restaurant is a great spot for a quick meal or to enjoy a baguette. Everything on the menu looks delicious and is a good bang for your buck. The atmosphere is cozy and the staff is very friendly. I especially enjoy the scent of French pastries that greets you as soon as you walk in the door.

Although they had ficelle on the menu, it was not available during our morning visit. The buttered bread roll was light and fresh, and the coffee was excellent. Unfortunately, they did not have jam available. The almond croissants and pain au chocolat were not well received by my group. The almond croissants were dense and oily, while the pain au chocolat had little chocolate filling. While it is nice to have this bakery in the neighborhood with a loyal following, there seems to be a need for improved quality control.
